SIOUX FALLS, SD --The Minot State men's basketball team hit 5-of-11 attempts from three-point range, shooting 45.5 percent from deep in a 95-73 loss to the Sioux Falls Cougars on the road Saturday.
The Beavers (8-10, 5-7) had four players score in double figures, led by Isaiah Alexander, who had 16 points. Darik Dissette added 14 points and two blocks and Trey Brandt helped out with 13 points.
Led by Alexander's three offensive rebounds, Minot State did a great job crashing the offensive glass, pulling down 12 boards that resulted in 14 second chance points.
How It Happened
Minot State struggled out of the gate, falling behind 52-36 heading into halftime.
Sioux Falls kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing an 89-63 advantage before Minot State went on a 5-0 run, finished off by Alexander's layup, to shrink the deficit to 89-68 with 3:31 to go in the contest. Sioux Falls responded and outscored the Beavers the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 95-73. Minot State took care of business in the paint, recording 20 of its 37 points in the lane.
