MINOT, ND --Deuce Benjamin collected 21 points, but the Minot State men's basketball team fell to the Augustana (SD) Vikings 82-75 at home Friday.
The Beavers (8-11, 5-8) had two players score in double figures, led by Benjamin, who had 21 points. Darik Dissette tacked on 19 points and two steals and Kiku Parker Jr added six points and three steals.
How It Happened
After falling behind 7-2, Minot State went on a 7-0 run with 18:11 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Benjamin, to take a 9-7 lead. The Beavers then surrendered that lead and entered halftime down 44-39.
After intermission, Minot State kept the Vikings from increasing their lead before going on a 5-0 run, finished off by Trey Brandt's three, to even the score at 50 all with 16:34 to go in the contest. The Beavers could not turn their rally into a victory, as the Vikings outscored them 32-25 the rest of the way to hand Minot State the 82-75 loss. Minot State took care of business in the paint, recording 20 of its 36 points in the lane.
