Beavers ready for Alumni Weekend Doubleheader

Minot State volleyball returns to the Minot State Dome this weekend for a pair of home matches, beginning Friday night against Southwest Minnesota State before wrapping up the weekend Saturday against the University of Sioux Falls.

The Beavers open the weekend Friday, Oct. 2, at 6 p.m. against Southwest Minnesota State as part of Minot State's Build the Dam Night. Friday's theme is Code Red, with Beaver fans encouraged to pack the Dome wearing red and show their support for Minot State volleyball.  The match will also serve as part of Minot State Volleyball Alumni Weekend, with former Beaver volleyball players being recognized during Friday night's contest.

Friday's match up brings the Beavers face-to-face with a familiar Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference opponent.  The Mustangs have controlled the all-time series since the programs first met in 2012. Southwest Minnesota State enters Friday having won each of the first 17 meetings between the programs.  Despite the series advantage for SMSU, the Beavers have pushed the Mustangs before. One of the closest meetings came on Oct. 7, 2022, when Minot State took Southwest Minnesota State to five sets before the Mustangs escaped with a 3-2 victory. The two programs last met on Nov. 15, 2025, in Marshall, Minnesota, with SMSU earning a 3-0 victory.  Friday gives Minot State another opportunity to challenge the Mustangs, this time with a home crowd behind the Beavers on a special night inside the Dome.

The Beavers return to the court less than 24 hours later when they host the University of Sioux Falls at 12 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, to close out the weekend.  Minot State and Sioux Falls have considerably more history, with the programs having met 33 times entering the 2026 match up. Minot State owns nine victories in the all-time series, while Sioux Falls has won 24.  The Cougars have controlled the series in recent years, including a 3-0 victory in the most recent meeting on Nov. 14, 2025. Saturday gives the Beavers a chance to snap that recent run and close their home weekend with a victory in front of the Minot State faithful.

The weekend also marks a homecoming for former Beaver volleyball players. Alumni will be recognized during Friday night's match, followed by additional alumni events Saturday.

With two NSIC opponents coming to Minot and alumni returning to the Dome, the Beavers will look to take advantage of a full weekend on their home floor.
