Minot State’s Max Palmer named NSIC Golfer of the Week

MINOT, N.D. – A fantastic finish to the fall season on Tuesday earned Minot State's Max Palmer a second-place finish at the USF Fall Invitational, and on Wednesday, it earned him NSIC Men's Golfer of the Week honors.

Palmer, a junior from Bottineau High School, finished his round on Tuesday with an eagle and back-to-back birdies in the final four holes, matching his collegiate low round of 4-under 68 to grab runner-up champion honors at Sioux Falls' tournament at the Grand Falls Casino and Golf Resort.

Palmer finished the 36-hole tournament at 4-under 140 (72-68), five shots behind individual champion Mason Eaton from South Dakota State.

The runner-up finish was the second this fall for Palmer, who started the season tying for second at the MSU/CSP Fall Brawl, shooting 1-over 143 (72-71) in early September.

And, the 68 was the second time this fall he carded that total, turning in a 4-under 68 in the second round of Minot State's Battle in the North last week. That matched his collegiate low he shot while winning the NJCAA Division II Region I championship in the spring of 2026.

Palmer, who is in his first season with the Beavers, and the rest of the Minot State golf teams now take the winter off from competition, returning to action in March in Arizona for the spring portion of their season.
