BISMARCK, N.D. – A win and trifecta of season-best performances was a pretty good tune-up for the Minot State track and field teams on Saturday at the Marauders Tune-Up indoor meet hosted by the University of Mary.
Nikita Neyshtadt led the way for the Minot State men as he claimed victory in the 800 meters, finishing 1st in 2 minutes, 5.78 seconds, while the trio of Beaver women's field student-athletes of
Jasmin Bell,
Kaiya Chell, and
Afton Wride added season-best efforts for Minot State in the team's final regular-season meet.
Next up, the Minot State men's and women's track and field teams go for titles and all-conference honors at the NSIC Indoor Track and Field Championships, held Friday and Saturday, and hosted by Minnesota State, Mankato.
While Neyshtadt led the way for the Beaver men on tune-up Saturday,
Camden Jasmin added a 2
nd-place finish in the mile in 4:44.14, and
Ben Holte was 4
th for Minot State in the men's 60-meter dash with a time of 7.19 seconds.
On the women's side,
Afton Wride grabbed a 2
nd-place finish with a season-best effort in the triple jump with a distance of 35 feet, 10.75 inches, leading the way for the Minot State ladies.
Freshman throwers Bell and Chell also had big days as Bell was third in the shot put with a season and career-best throw of 38 feet, 5 inches, and teammate Chell was 6
th in the weight throw with a season and career-best effort of 41 feet, 8 inches.
Adding one more top performance for the Minot State women was
Nicole Reeves, who was 3rd in the mile in 5:53.76.
