FARGO, N.D. – The Minot State track and field team swings back into action after three weeks off, competing at the North Dakota Spring Classic this Saturday and Sunday.
The meet was pushed back one day because of wintry weather, and gets underway with the hammer throw on Saturday, then the remainder of the field events and running events on Sunday.
The Beavers opened the outdoor track and field season last month at the Marauders Outdoor Opener, where
Peyton Tuhy won the men's 1,500 meters in 4 minutes, 8.31 seconds, and
Emery Smith won the women's 5,000 meters in 18:56.49.
Holter Bridwell and
Camden Jasmin finished 3
rd and 5
th, respectively, in the men's 1,500, two more top-5 finishes for Minot State's track and field student-athletes in that season opener, while
Jamie Ward was 2
nd in the women's discus with a toss of 136 feet, 7 inches, and
Ava Ruthven was 4
th in the women's javelin with a mark of 119-10.
Zander Grover added a 4
th-place finish in the men's 800 meters in 2:02.95,
Julie Folk was 4
th in the women's 1,500 in 5:22.43, and the men's 4x400 relay team of Tuhy, Jasmin,
Cameron Hummel, and
Isaac Rathbun, was 2
nd in 3:39.28 at the season opener, adding to Minot State's top-5 finishes.
Minot State was scheduled to compete at the Al Bortke Open hosted by the University of Mary over the Easter weekend, but winter weather forced the cancellation of the meet.
