SMITHVILLE, Mo. – The first NSIC Championship of the spring gets underway this weekend as the Minot State men's golf team tees off at the Paradise Pointe Golf Club for the 2026 NSIC Men's Golf Championship.
The Beavers are among 10 teams competing at the 3-day, 54-hole Championship, which gets underway with a shotgun start Friday morning, and continues with play Saturday and Sunday.
Concordia-St. Paul is the defending champion, while Winona State heads into the weekend as the lone NSIC team in the current NCAA Central Region rankings at No. 5.
Minot State heads into the Championship with momentum after a 3
rd-place finish on Monday and Tuesday at the Texas Roadhouse Spring Invitational hosted by South Dakota Mines, where
Gunther Soltvedt tied for 4
th individual at 9-over 153 (78-75).
The last time the Beavers visited Paradise Pointe Golf Club, back in March at the NSIC Preview tournament, they shot rounds of 24-over 312 and 16-over 304 as a team, and were led by
Zach Hendrickson, who tied for 23
rd with a 5-over 149 (74-75).
Nine of the 10 NSIC schools played at the NSIC Preview, with the exception of Jamestown.
While Soltvedt led the way in Minot State's last outing and Hendrickson led at the NSIC Preview, freshman
Kasen Rostad has also been a standout contributor throughout the season. Rostad leads the Beavers in scoring average with a 75.75 stroke-per-round average through 16 rounds of golf and has one Top 10 finish this season.
Hendrickson is a close second, averaging 76.25 shots per round, and Soltvedt is third, averaging 76.3125 strokes per round, giving Minot State a solid top three to lead the way as the Beavers look to make a charge at this weekend's NSIC Championships.
