The Minot State Volleyball team returns to action this weekend as the Beavers travel to Lawton, Oklahoma, for the Cameron Invitational on Friday and Saturday.  

Minot State opens the four-match weekend on Friday, September 4, facing Quincy University at 10 a.m. before taking on host Cameron University at 2 p.m.  The Beavers will return to the court Saturday, September 5th, for a 9 a.m. match up against Newman University before wrapping up the tournament at 1 p.m. against Northeastern State University.  

The Beavers enter the weekend looking to build on their strong start to the season after opening the year with a five-set victory over Newman University at the Drury Invitational.  Minot State battled through a back-and-forth match to earn a 3-2 win, taking the final set 15-7.  

Against Newman, Caton Pearcy led the Beavers with 17 kills and 23 digs, while Emily Willis added 14 kills.  Maya Vibeto anchored the defensive effort with 25 digs, and Kiera Hayes contributed four blocks.  

The Beavers also had two players recognized on the Drury Invitational All-Tournament Team.  Junior setter Logan Drennan led Minot State with 8.18 assists per set across four matches, totaling 4 assists in the Beavers' five-set season opening win over Newman.  She finished the weekend with 13 kills, three blocks, eight service aces and 51 digs.  Junior Maya Vibeto led the Beavers defensively, averaging 4.88 digs per set and totaling 83 digs across the four matches.  Vibeto also recorded eight assists, one service ace and one kill during the tournament.  

Minot State enters the Cameron Invitational ready to compete and continue building on their early-season experience.  With Newman set to be on of Minot State's opponents once again, the Beavers will have an opportunity to apply what they learned from their first meeting and make the adjustments needed to earn another victory.
