THIS WEEK: Minot State will hit the road for their first ever Northern Sun dual away from the MSU Dome. The Beavers will travel to St. Cloud, Minn. to take on No. 3 St. Cloud State University on December 15 at 2 p.m.
RECORDS: MISU is 1-1 overall, 0-1 in the NSIC. SCSU is 1-0 overall and 0-0 in the NSIC.
COACHES CORNER:
Robin Ersland is in his 3rd season as the Minot State head coach and sports a 10-9 overall record with the Beavers. Ersland, a NCAA Division II Hall of Fame inductee, is 217-259-7 overall in a stellar career. St. Cloud State is led by head coach Steve Costanzo. Costanzo has led the Huskies to a 79-23 record throughout his career at SCSU.

RANKINGS: Minot State was not ranked in the latest NCAA Division II Wrestling Coaches Top 25 Poll. St. Cloud State is ranked #3 in the most recently Division II Wrestling Poll.
RECENT HISTORY: The Beavers fell to intra-state rival University of Mary 16-28 on December 5th. St. Cloud State defeated Concordia College 32-3 on December 11th for their first dual win of the season.
OVERALL SERIES: Minot State and St. Cloud State have never faced each other on the wrestling mat.
NOTING THE HUSKIES: In 2011-12, the St. Cloud State University wrestling team was one of the best teams in the nation at the Division II level. SCSU went a perfect 21-0 in duals as well as capturing the championship at the NWCA National Duals. The Huskies finished their season as NCAA Division II National Runner-Up. Shamus O'Grady and Andy Pokorny leads a solid group of wrestlers looking to repeat as NSIC champions. O' Grady went 17-3 last season while finishing fourth in the NCAA Championships. Bennington owned a 22-7 overall record in 2011-12 while finishing National Runner-Up at 133. As a team, SCSU had seven wrestlers qualify for the NCAA Division II National Championships.

WELCOME TO THE NSIC: Minot State enters their first year in arguably the best wrestling conference in all of NCAA Division II, the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. The Beavers are in a stretch of seven straight duals where the opponent is receiving votes in the NCAA Division II National Poll. That stretch includes three straight duals against top 10 teams (No. 3 St. Cloud State, No. 9 Minnesota State and No. 4 Upper Iowa).
MUSKEGON CONNECTION: MISU has two wrestlers from Muskegon, Mich., making big contributions to the program this season.
Matt Fetterley (Jr., 174, Muskegon, Mich.) and
Cody Carpenter (Jr., 141, Muskegon, Mich.) have combined for a 10-12 overall record including 18 team points for the Beavers so far this season.
TEACH ME HOW TO DOUGIE: Sophomore
Joshua Douglas (125, Kissimmee, Fla.) improved his overall record to 3-2 with a major decision victory against his opponent from University of Mary. Douglas used a wide array of moves on his way to the 8-0 win. Douglas is looking to get his first pin of the season as he totaled seven wins by fall last season.
BARTZ PINS ANOTHER: Minot State's
Bobby Bartz (So., HWT, Harvey, N.D.) pushed his overall record to 3-1 with a win by fall against University of Mary. Bartz wasted little time as it took him only 1:22 to take victory from his opponent. He has been one of the most dominant wrestlers for MISU this season.
WEPPLER MOVES ON: Minot State University senior
Wade Weppler has decided to hang up the singlet as a collegiate wrestler due to an injury, but has also decided to stay with the team as an assistant coach. Weppler, who qualified for the NAIA National Tournament in his first season with the Beavers in 2010-11, will work with media relations including video, social media and statistics for the 2012-13 Beavers.
ON THE ROAD AGAIN: The Beavers will look to have success on the road in 2012-13 just as they did in 2011-12. Last season, MISU went 3-2 in duals on the road.
