Simon Fraser 10-runs Beavers

Minot State can't get going early in loss

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Minot State University never got on track as Simon Fraser 10-run ruled the Beavers in the first game for MSU on day 2 at the Montana State-Billings Desert Stinger Saturday at Majestic Field.

Simon Fraser scored three in the top of the first and led 5-0 after two innings. SFU pushed it to 11-0 after five-run fourth before the Beavers scored in the bottom of the inning.

MSU's only run was driven in by Deanna Mitchell (Sr., 1B, Portage, Manitoba) who went 1-for-1 on the day with the RBI. Kyla Thiesen (Sr., 2B, Brandon, Manitoba), Jen Dixon (So., P/OF, Brandon, Manitoba) and Tiffany Friesen (Jr., P/3B, Morden, Manitoba) collected the Beavers' four hits. Dixon finished with a double.

Simon Fraser (2-1 overall) finished with 16 hits in the game.

MSU starting pitcher Mandy Greenberg suffered the loss, giving up eight runs and 13 hits in 3 1/3 innings pitched.

The Beavers (1-2 overall) plays a late game against New Mexico Highlands Saturday starting at 7:30 p.m. (ET).
