Box Score SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Minot State University's toughest road trip of the season proved to be just that.
The Beavers didn't have enough in the tank to pull off an upset, falling 94-66 to No. 12 Augustana College in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference women's basketball Saturday at Elmen Center.
It was the fifth game in eight days for Minot State (8-8 overall, 4-8 NSIC), the second straight against a top 25 team on the road and the fourth straight game against a team with at least 10 wins.
But the Vikings (14-2, 10-2) were the toughest of the bunch, outscoring Minot State 53-25 in the first half. Augie led by as much as 32 points in the second half and limited the Beavers to 36.9 percent shooting from the floor.
The Beavers started strong as they trailed just 13-12 on a layup by
Lauren Safranski (Sr., G, Burnsville, Minn.) with 14:06 to play in the half. But the Vikings outscored MISU 19-4 over the next seven minutes and 40-13 to cap the half.
Minot State was better in the second half, matching the Vikings with 41 points, mainly behind a season-high 27 points from
Francesca DeAngelis (Sr., G, Laguna Niguel, Calif.). DeAngelis went 12 for 19 from the floor and added six rebounds and four assists.
The Vikings got an almost perfect night from Alex Feeney, who scored 26 points and added 12 rebounds and five assists. She was 9 for 10 from the floor and 4 for 4 from both the free throw line and on 3-pointers. Andrea Whitney added 14 points, Ashley Shaunteva scored 12 and Cami Koehn added 10 in the win.
Carly Boag (Jr., F, Tamworth, Australia) recorded another double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds for the Beavers.
Savana Kingsbury (Fr., F, Omaha, Neb.) and Safranski (Sr., G, Burnsville, Minn.) each scored six points in the loss.
