Box Score MOORHEAD, Minn. – Minot State University never fully recovered from an early Minnesota State University Moorhead run and fell 85-55 to the Dragons in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference men's basketball Friday at Alex Nemzek Fieldhouse.
The Beavers (8-16 overall, 4-16 NSIC) trailed 11-2 early on and while they were able to cut the lead to six a couple times, they never gained the lead. MSUM led 33-18 at the half and pulled away with a 52-37 advantage in the second half.
MSU Moorhead (17-7, 13-7) shot a solid 12 of 24 in the first half and trumped that with a 16-of-24 clip in the second half. The Dragons hit 10 3-pointers and hit 18 of 27 free throws to outscore the Beavers 19-7 from the line.
The Beavers struggled from the floor in the first half, hitting just seven field goals. It improved in the second half as Minot State hit 14 of 28 shot in the second half.
Four players reached double figures for MSU Moorhead, paced by 15 points from Malik Wood. Tarell Clark finished with a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds and added five assists and three steals to his points and rebounds.
Minot State had one player in double figures as
Isiah Gandy (Sr., G, West Palm Beach, Fla.) came off the bench to score 13 points.
Samuel Johnson (Sr., F, Las Vegas, Nev.) and
Dominique McDonald (So., G, Raleigh, N.C.) scored eight apiece.
Chris East (Sr., F, Toronto, Ontario) pulled down a team-high five rebounds and added six points for the Beavers.
Minot State will finish the regular season on the road in Aberdeen, S.D., as the Beavers play Northern State at 7 p.m.
