Minot State men's basketball welcomes Eden Hobbs

Men's Basketball

Williston State star Eden Hobbs first addition to Minot State men’s basketball roster

MINOT, N.D. – The Minot State men's basketball staff has been hard at work building the Beavers' roster for the immediate future, and head coach Randall Herbst is pleased to introduce the team's first new addition.

Minot State's 2nd-year head coach announced today that all-conference transfer Eden Hobbs, from Williston State, has signed to play for the Beavers and will join the team as a junior in the classroom and on the hardwood in the fall of 2026.

"We are super excited for Eden to be a part of our program," Coach Herbst said. "Eden has a lot of passion, a great work ethic, and is a strong, versatile talent on both ends of the floor. He can score, rebound, and play multiple positions. Most importantly, he's going to be a good teammate with a championship attitude."

"I chose Minot State because of how well I was able to build a relationship with the coaches," Hobbs said. "Whether at my games, practices, or campus visit, I realized the way the program was run; the professional manner and strong passion the coaches have is exactly the same way that I go about things as a player and athlete.

"Minot is a great community with plenty to do," Hobbs added. "The (MSU) Dome gets me excited, and I really look forward to playing there."

A 6-foot-5 combination guard and forward from Melbourne, Australia, Hobbs was named 1st Team All-MonDak this season as he helped the Tetons to an 18-13 overall record and the Region XIII semifinals.

Starting 30 games this past season (no stats were available for the Tetons game against Western Wyoming on November 28) he was second on the team as he averaged 21.9 points per game, shooting 48.8 percent from the field, which included 32.5 percent from 3-point range (51-of-157). Along with being a prolific scorer, Hobbs was also a force on the glass as he averaged 5.2 rebounds per game. Defensively, he averaged 1.1 steals per game, and he added 1.4 assists per game.

In two seasons with the Tetons, he played in 60 games, scoring 899 points, grabbing 234 rebounds, dishing out 63 assists, making 52 steals, and blocking 11 shots.

"I want to win more than anything," Hobbs said. "I know what it takes to be a great teammate, and I want to be part of a group where everyone is playing for each other and no one wants anything more than to win.

"I plan to bring a lot of positive energy and be someone that people respect, love to be around, and I really want to connect with those around the basketball program, campus, and community of Minot."
