DICKINSON, N.D. – The Minot State University wrestling team suffered a 29-22 loss at Dickinson State Wednesday evening despite winning five of the eight matches competed in.
After forfeiting the 125 and 133 classes the Beavers found themselves trailing by 12 points before starting the competition.
Tanner Crissler (141, So., Belcourt, N.D.),
Cody Haugen (149, So., Minot, N.D.) and
Marcus Polak (157, Sr., Minot, N.D.) won the first three matches in which Minot State competed to put the team up 13-12.
Crissler won by major decision over his opponent while Polak pinned his in just over two minutes. With a loss by fall in the 165 and a pin earned by
Mason Courtright (174, Fr., Mears, Mich.) in the 174 class the Beavers remained on top leading by just one point.
Polak's pin was his second of the season while Courtright earned his third. Polak has now earned the second most points in duals for MSU with 36.
Minot State lost by fall and tech. fall in its next two matches to give Dickinson State a 29-19 lead going into the final match.
Mitchell Eull recorded his 19th win of the season with a 5-0 victory to earn the team three points, his 46th of the season, to result in the 29-22 final.
The MSU wrestling team will compete again on Friday, February 12, at Minnesota State University Moorhead beginning at 7 p.m.
