Beavers Play First Two Road Games of Season

MINOT, N.D. – The Minot State women's basketball team hits the road for the first time this season, as the Beavers travel for a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference games at No. 23 Augustana on Friday, Dec. 8 at 6 p.m. and at Wayne State on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 4 p.m.

Beaver Fast Breaks

Minot State is 1-2 in NSIC play after falling to No. 16 Northern State (77-58) and Minnesota State Moorhead (85-64) last weekend.

Senior Kristal Flowers is averaging a double-double this season with 12.0 points and 11.0 rebounds per game.

Holly Johnson leads the Beavers with 13.7 points per game while grabbing 7.0 rebounds per game.

Madison Wald is scoring 11.3 points per game, followed by Diondra Denton with 7.6 points per game and Kari Clements with 7.3 points per game.

Clements leads the team with 22 assists and six blocks while Wald has recorded a team-high 10 steals.

Scouting the Augustana Vikings

Augustana enters the weekend with a 7-0 (3-0 NSIC) record on the season and a No. 23 ranking in the WBCA Coaches Top 25 Poll. Shelby Selland paces the balanced Viking scoring attack with 13.3 points per game, followed by Logan O'Farrell with 13.0 points per game. Paige Peterson and Presley O'Farrell are adding 12.7 points per game each while Selland is grabbing a team-high 6.6 rebounds per game.

The Vikings are shooting 43.9 percent from the field and 80.3 percent from the free throw line this season. Augustana is scoring 85.1 points per game while outscoring their opponents by 22.7 points per game and notching 43 rebounds per game and outrebounding opponents by 5.9 boards per game.

Head coach Dave Krauth is in his 29th season at the helm of the Viking program and holds a career record of 584-254.

Series History

Augustana leads the all-time series with Minot State, 8-1. The Vikings defeated the Beavers 70-61 in their last meeting on February 22, 2017 in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Scouting the Wayne State Wildcats

Wayne State comes into the weekend with an 8-3 (2-1 NSIC) record on the season and hosts Mary on Friday night. Paige Ballinger is scoring a team-high 12.3 points per game and second on the team with 5.8 rebounds per game while Maggie Schulte is second on the team with 11.1 points per game and posting a team-high 7.3 rebounds per game.

The Wildcats are shooting 44.8 percent from the field, including 34 percent from three-point range while scoring 78.8 points per game and outscoring opponents by 17.1 points per game.
Head coach Chris Kielsmeier is in his 10th season at Wayne State with a record of 220-68 and a career record of 399-112 in his 18th season.

Series History

Saturday's meeting marks the sixth all-time meeting between the Beavers and Wildcats with the Wildcats winning all five of the previous games. In last season's meeting, Wayne State defeated Minot State 75-45 in Minot, N.D. on December 10, 2016.
