MINOT, N.D. – The Minot State women's basketball team hosts a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference foes this weekend in the Minot State Dome. The Beavers face Minnesota State on Friday, Jan. 12 at 6 p.m. before taking on Concordia-St. Paul on Saturday, Jan. 13 at 4 p.m.
Minot State is 6-8 on the season and 3-7 in NSIC play after falling to Minnesota State Moorhead (72-69) and No. 19 Northern State (74-65) on the road last weekend.
Holly Johnson leads the Beavers in scoring with 16.3 points per game while grabbing 6.4 rebounds per game.
Senior
Kristal Flowers is averaging just short of a double-double this season with 10.6 points and 9.1 rebounds per game.
Madison Wald is scoring 10.8 points per game, followed by
Mariah Payne and
Kari Clements with 7.0 and 6.7 points per game, respectively.
Clements leads the team with 37 assists and seven blocks while
Diondra Denton has recorded a team-high 16 steals.
Scouting the Minnesota State Mavericks
Minnesota State enters the weekend with a 4-11 (2-7 NSIC) record on the season. Claire Ziegler paces the scoring for the Maverick offense with 11.2 points per game, followed by Logan Anderson and Taylor Klug with 8.4 points per game apiece. Ziegler averages a team-high 6.3 rebounds per game while Taylor Drost leads the team with 10 blocks and Monica Muth has dished out a team-high 30 assists.
The Mavericks are averaging 63.2 points per game while shooting 36.3 percent from the floor and 67.3 percent from the free throw line. Minnesota State is outrebounding opponents 38.9 to 37.9 rebounds per game while being outscored 72.7 to 63.2 points per game.
Head coach Emily Thiesse is in her sixth season at the helm of the Maverick program and holds a career record of 99-62.

Minnesota State leads the all-time series with Minot State, 6-0. The Mavericks defeated the Beavers 71-59 in Mankato, Minn. on Jan. 13, 2017 in their last meeting.
Scouting the Concordia-St. Paul
Concordia-St. Paul comes into the weekend with a 4-11 (1-8 NSIC) record on the season and will take on Mary on Friday night before facing the Beavers on Saturday afternoon. Anna Schmitt leads the scoring in the NSIC with 19.8 points per game while Lindsay Dorr and Ellie Gess are adding 8.2 and 7.8 points per game, respectively. Dorr leads the Golden Bears with 6.5 rebounds per game and nine blocks this season.
Concordia-St. Paul is shooting 37.8 percent from the field while being outscored by an average of 71.2 to 61.4 points per game. The Golden Bears are shooting 71.8 percent from the free throw line and grabbing 32.3 rebounds per game.
Head coach Amanda Johnson is in her third season at Concordia-St. Paul and has notched a career record of 32-21.
