MINOT, N.D. -- The Minot State women's basketball team will return to Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play this weekend with a pair of road games. The Beavers will face Northern State on Friday (Dec. 14) at 5:30 p.m. and then meet Minnesota State Moorhead on Saturday (Dec. 15) at 3:30 p.m.
Minot State, which is 5-4 overall and 0-3 in conference play, will be seeking to bring an end to a three-game losing streak while also securing its first NSIC win of the season.
The Beavers dropped a pair of home games to Minnesota Duluth and St. Cloud State last weekend. Minnesota Duluth defeated Minot State 74-48 and then St. Cloud State edged the Beavers 61-60 on a last-second shot.
Haley Hildenbrand led the Beavers with 14 points against Minnesota Duluth, while
Kari Clements scored 13 points. In the loss to St. Cloud State,
Madison Wald scored 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds and
Mariah Payne had 17 points and nine rebounds.
Clements, who has reached double figures in scoring six times this season, leads the Beavers averaging 13.6 points per game. She also tops the team with 19 steals and leads the team with a 2.1 assist to turnover ratio. Clements also is currently second on the team averaging 4.3 rebounds per game and has scored 21 points against Northwestern Oklahoma State and Valley City State.
Wald is currently second on the team averaging 13.4 points per contest and leads the team averaging 4.8 rebounds per game. She also leads the team with 18 three-pointers and is shooting a team-leading 84.6 percent from the free throw line. Wald has reached double figures in scoring in seven game, which included a 21-point game against Dickinson State.
Payne leads Minot State with 36 assists and is third on the team averaging 12.0 points per game. She also is averaging 3.9 rebounds per game and has reached double figures in scoring six times.
Hildenbrand ranks third on the team averaging 4.2 rebounds per game and leads the squad shooting 54.5 percent from the floor.
Calli Delsman (6.1 ppg),
Anna Counts (4.1 ppg),
Whitney Molina (4.0 ppg) and
Gabby Wilkinson (3.6 ppg) have each played in all nine games on the year.
Northern State is 3-5 overall and 1-2 in the NSIC, while Minnesota State Moorhead is tied for first in the North Division with a 3-0 league mark and a 7-2 overall record.
