MINOT, N.D. -- The Minot State men's basketball team will venture on the road this weekend for a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference games at Southwest Minnesota State and Sioux Falls. The Beavers will meet the Mustangs on Friday (Jan. 18) at 7:30 p.m. and then face the Cougars on Saturday (Jan. 19) at 6:00 p.m.
Minot State, which is 7-12 overall and 2-8 in conference play, dropped a pair of road games to St. Cloud State and Minnesota Duluth last weekend. The Beavers lost to the Huskies 89-54 and then fell to the Bulldogs 77-70.
David Akibo led the Beavers with 19 points and seven rebounds against St. Cloud State,
Max Cody had 16 points and eight assists versus Minnesota Duluth.
Akibo currently leads the Beavers in both scoring and rebounding as the senior is averaging 18.4 points and 8.2 rebounds per contest. He has reached double figures in scoring in 15 games on the year, including 13 straight.
Max Cody tops the Beavers with 111 assists and is second on the team averaging 12.9 points per game. He is shooting 49.7 percent from the floor and 80.9 percent from the foul line and also leads the team with 26 steals.
Kyle Beisch is third on the team averaging 12.5 points per game and leads the Beavers with 35 three-point baskets.
Dorian Aluyi also is averaging in double figures at 10.2 points per contest. He is second on the Beavers shooting 56.7 percent from the floor and is second on the team averaging 5.4 rebounds per game.
Drake Jeffries (6.1 ppg) and
Kody Dwyer (5.1 ppg) have seen action in all 19 games on the season.
Southwest Minnesota State is 3-7 in NSIC and 8-8 overall record. Sioux Falls is 12-4 overall and 7-3 in conference play.
