(VALLEY CITY, N.D.) -- Mariah Payne scored 29 points to lead Minot State in their exhibition opener at Valley City State. The Beavers defeated the Vikings 61-45.

Other scoring included Bethany Theodore with eight, Calli Delsman, Haley Hildenbrand, and a trio of reserves with four, and two females with two points.

Delsman led Minot State in rebounds with five total collections including two offensive boards.

Hildenbrand was feeling generous against the Vikings as she dished out a team-high four assists.

Despite a slow start, the Beavers outscored Valley City 51-34 over the last three quarters to finish a decisive victory.

The Beavers return to action on Saturday, Oct. 26 against Dickinson State in an exhibition game at 4 Bears Casino & Lodge at 4:00 p.m.
