(MINOT, N.D.) -- The Minot State men's basketball team will go on the road for their first weekend of NSIC play. The Beavers had a fantastic non-conference slate, as they finished 6-0 going into the rigid NSIC portion of the schedule. They followed that up with a defensive battle against UMary to open the conference slate. The Beavers were unable to come out victorious in that contest.
The Beavers head to Duluth to take on the Bulldogs of the University of Minnesota Duluth on Fri. Dec. 6 at 7:30 p.m. The Beavers will finish off the weekend road trip in Minnesota as they take on the St. Cloud State Huskies on Sat. Dec. 7 at 5:30 p.m.
Series History
vs. Minnesota Duluth
- In the recorded history, the Beavers and Bulldogs have met just 14 times, starting in 2013.
- The Beavers and Bulldogs are all square in the matchup, with each team winning seven games.
- The first meeting on record was a 62-55 Beaver victory.
- Currently, UMD is on a three-game winning streak, having been victorious in both matchups last season and the final matchup of the 2017-18 season.
vs. St. Cloud State

- The Beavers are currently 6-1 on the season after falling in a tight contest against Mary to open NSIC play.
- In the game against Mary, the Beavers were led in scoring by Kyle Beisch and Kody Dwyer with 22 and 11 points.
- Max Cody continued to be a difference-maker all over the court, leading the team in assists and rebounds with nine, and eight, to go along with his five points and his great defensive effort.
- Kyle Beisch leads the Beavers in scoring, averaging 20.1 points per game. He has done this by being able to get to the free-throw line, as he has shot 87.5% and has gotten to the charity stripe 32 times.
- Max Cody and Kody Dwyer are the other double-digit Beaver scorers, averaging 14.4, and 11.6 points per game.
- Cody leads the team, averaging 6.4 assists per game. He also adds 1.6 steals per game and 4.4 rebounds per game.
- Trevor Rothstein leads the team in rebounding, averaging 6.5 per contest.
- Aleksa Cucovic is shooting 47.4% from three-point range.
- Dwyer is shooting 82.6% from the field.
- Currently, Minot State leads the NSIC in scoring defense, giving up 60.6 points per game.
- The Beaver defense allows opposing teams to shoot 39.2% from the field and 28.8% from the three-point arc. Those numbers are good for the fourth-best, and best in the conference.
- The Beavers are second in the Northern Sun in point margin per game, outscoring their opponents by an average of 14.7 points per game.
Scouting Report
Minnesota Duluth
- Minnesota Duluth has started the season 6-1.
- The Bulldogs are currently riding a five-game winning streak.
- The Bulldogs have been able to this based upon their explosive offense.
- Minnesota Duluth has the highest-scoring offense in the conference, averaging 92.1 points per game.
- Minnesota Duluth is shooting over 50% from the field and 41.2% from behind the arc. They are second-best in the conference in both areas.
- Their defense has struggled, however, as they have given up the most points per game (80.9) in the NSIC.
- Brandon Myer and Alex Illikainen are two of the best offensive players in the conference, averaging 19.9 and 18.6 points per game.
St. Cloud State
- St. Cloud State has started the season out struggling a bit as they are below .500, sitting at 3-4.
- They lost twice in the Harding Big Red Tournament to Ouachita Baptist and Harding, who were both defeated by the Beavers.
- They have been able to play well in the confines of homecourt, however, as they are 3-0 at home and 0-4 everywhere else.
- St. Cloud State has shot 49.1% thus far on the season. That is the third-best mark in the Northern Sun.
- Trevon Marshall is the number one scorer for the Huskies, averaging 15 points per game.
