MINOT, N.D. -- The Minot State University wrestling team held a 10-3 but could not close out the dual after dropping five of the last six matches falling to UMary 20-13 on Friday evening at the MSU Dome.
The Beavers fall to 0-2 overall on the season and remain 0-1 in NSIC competition with the loss. UMary improves to 1-1 overall with its first win of the dual season.
Minot State grabbed an early 10-3 lead in the dual with wins by
Oscar Nellis over Jeremy Leintz (7-2, Dec.),
Lincoln Stormer over Logan Mahoney (12-4, Maj. Dec.) for four points, and
Shadi Mitwalli over Chandler Mooney (7-6, Dec.) to push the Beavers in front of the Marauders four matches into the rivalry dual.
The momentum shifted in favor of the Marauders as they won the next three matches to grab a 14-10 lead and advance on to defeat the Beavers, 20-13.
Keegan Berry earned a 6-1 win over Grant Litke by a decision to mark the only victory for the Beavers in the final six matches.

Dual Results
The dual also featured some junior varsity action as Logan Fischer earned a 6-0 fall victory over UMary's Jaden Verhagen.
Brendan Barnes defeated Jacob Morgan in a major-decision 9-1 and
Jake Swirple took down Emmitt Brooks by a 3-2 decision to earn his first NCAA win to close out the dual.
The Beavers are back in action against Northern State on Jan. 21 at 7 p.m. inside the MSU Dome.
