Minot State wrestling team ready to hit the mat as Beavers announce schedule for 2021-22 season

MINOT, N.D. – Coming off a shortened season from a year ago, the Minot State wrestling team is eager to hit the mats for a full campaign this time around as the Beavers and head coach Evan Forde announced their schedule for the 2021-22 year today.

Minot State gets the year started on their own mat on Halloween, Oct. 31, hosting an intrasquad dual at the MSU Dome at 2 p.m., then open the regular season in earnest the following weekend when the Beavers compete in the Cobber Open hosted by Minnesota State University Moorhead on Nov. 6.

"We are very excited to get back to a full season of competition," Coach Forde said. "We will have a challenging and competitive schedule as usual.

"One addition to our schedule this season will be the Younes Hospitality Open tournament at the University of Nebraska Kearney, which is typically the largest collegiate open tournament in the country.

"Our schedule also features six home duals, as well as our intrasquad dual on Oct. 31," Minot State's coach added.

The Younes Hospitality Open is one of three tournaments in November that Minot State will compete in in preparation for NSIC action, as the Beavers head to the Bison Open hosted by North Dakota State University on Nov. 13, then complete at the event hosted by Nebraska Kearney on Nov. 20.

The Beavers then open NSIC action, and the home regular-season slate, with a dual against Northern State University on Friday, Dec. 3, at 7 p.m. at the MSU Dome before hitting the road for one final regular-season tournament on Dec. 5, the Dragon Open once again hosted by Minnesota State Moorhead.

Minot State then returns home to close out the 2021 portion of its schedule, hosting in-state rival the University of Mary in a non-conference dual on Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. at the MSU Dome.

Back in action after the start of the new calendar year, Minot State hits the road for four straight NSIC duals competing at Minnesota State Moorhead on Jan. 13, and at St. Cloud State on Jan. 14. The Beavers then travel to the University of Wisconsin Parkside on Jan. 21 for the first meeting between the two schools, as the Rangers only joined the NSIC during last year's shortened season, then Minot State closes the road trip at Upper Iowa University on Jan. 23.

Back home, the Beavers get four straight duals on their own mat at the MSU Dome as they host Minnesota State University, Mankato on Jan. 28, then Southwestern Minnesota State University on Jan. 29. Augustana is in town on Feb. 5 for an NSIC dual, then Minot State closes its home slate by hosting non-conference, in-state foe Dickinson State on Wednesday, Feb. 9.

The Beavers wrap up the regular season at the University of Mary on Feb. 10 in NSIC action, then get a little more than two weeks to prepare for the postseason and the Super Region Tournament hosted by Minnesota State Moorhead on Feb. 26.
