MINOT, N.D. – The Minot State men's basketball team returns to action Friday, Jan. 21 for the first time in almost three weeks with a 7:30 p.m. NSIC home matchup against the Mavericks of Minnesota State Mankato. The Beavers conclude weekend play with a 5:30 tip off p.m. against Concordia-St. Paul in the MSU dome.

Last Time Out
Minot State is coming off of a two-point loss against interstate rival the University of Mary Marauders 80-78. The loss drops Minot State (10-4 overall, 4-4 NSIC) to third in the NSIC North standings.

Max Cody shined for the Minot State offense in the loss with a game high 21 points. Melvin Newbern added 20 points on 8-11 shooting from the field while also grabbing 9 rebounds.

Scouting the Mavericks
The Mavericks (10-4 overall, 4-4 NSIC) enter the weekend with an identical record to Minot State. Sophomore guard Quincy Anderson leads the offensive attack for Minnesota State Mankato, scoring no less than 25 points in three of his last four games.

Scouting Concordia-St. Paul
The Golden Bears (2-16 overall, 1-10 NSIC) enter weekend play at the bottom of the NSIC. Freshman Elijah Ormiston leads the team in both scoring (16.2 PPG) and rebounding (7.1 RPG). Minot State looks to put a stop to Ormiston's five game streak of scoring at least 20 points.

Next Time Out
Following this weekend, Minot State hits the road for four straight road contests. On Friday, Jan. 28 the Beavers travel to Fayette, IA., for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off against the Peacocks of Upper Iowa University. On Saturday, Jan. 29 the Beavers faceoff with the Winona State University Warriors at 5:30 p.m.
