MINOT, ND – The Minot State women's basketball team travels to Iowa and Minnesota for NSIC contests Friday Jan. 28 and Saturday Jan. 29. The Beavers will face Upper Iowa University and Winona State University with a 5:30 p.m. tip-off on Friday and 3:30 p.m. tip-off Saturday.
Last Time Out
The Beavers (8-10 overall, 6-5 NSIC) enter the weekend on a 3-game win streak. Minot State defeated NSIC competitors Minnesota State, Mankato and Concordia-St. Paul, 81-71 and 81-70, respectively.
Leading the Way
Amber Stevahn led the Beavers last weekend, averaging 24 points and 10 rebounds per game. Stevahn ranks second overall in the NSIC in scoring, averaging 17.9 points per game this season. Kate Head averaged 16 points and 9.5 rebounds in the last two games. Natasha Elliott helped Minot State out as well, with 13 points per game last weekend.
Scouting the Peacocks
Upper Iowa University enters the contest with a 4-14 (1-11) record after back-to-back losses on the road. The Peacocks were defeated by Northern State 71-62 and Minnesota State, Moorhead 56-45. Lydia Haack leads the Peacocks in scoring this season, averaging 13 points per game. Sophomore guard, Jessica Musgrave, leads Upper Iowa in rebounds this season, averaging 7.1 per game.
Scouting the Warriors
Winona State University enters the contest with a 9-9 (6-8) record on the season. The Warriors are 2-0 in their last two games, after defeating Minnesota State, Moorhead 75-66 and Northern State 65-55. Taylor Hustad leads the Warriors in scoring and rebounding this season, averaging 12.8 points and 7.2 rebounds per game.
Next Time Out
Minot State returns to action with two road games, facing Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston the weekend of Feb. 4. The Beavers will play Friday at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday at 3:30 p.m. to round out the weekend.
