BISMARCK, N.D.- The University of Mary men's wrestling team snuck past the Beavers by an 18-17 score to end the Beavers regular season, much closer than the 29-12 setback against the Marauders in Minot earlier this season.
Oscar Nellis started the night off with three Beaver points as he defeated
Jaden Verhagen in sudden victory by a 12-10 score.
Reece Barnhardt took home the 6-1 decision over
Brandon Meikel in his last collegiate regular season dual.
UMary took the lead for the first time on the night with a 5-3 decision by
Laken Boese over
Kelby Armstrong.
The Beavers took the lead back thanks to
Shadi Mitwalli's 8-6 narrow decision victory over
Lincoln Turman.
MSU built on the lead thanks to
Nathan Baca sealing the fall over
Devin Steidler at the end of the first period to put the Beavers up 12-6 on the night.
UMary took back control as
Leo Mushinsky defeated
Cannon Potts by an 8-2 decision, while
Max Bruss took home the five points in a 15-0 technical fall over
Cayden White to bring the Marauders to 12-11.
Keegan Berry finished out his Beaver regular season career with a 3-1 decision over
Wyatt Lidberg to put the Beavers at 15-11.
The Marauders tied up the night thanks to
Matt Kaylor getting the four points in a 9-0 major decision over
Dustin Swisher.
Jordan Will rounded out the night with a 3-0 victory over
Gerardo Jaime to put the score at 18-18, however a coach misconduct on the Beavers took one point away handing the win to the Marauders.
The Beavers will prepare for the NCAA Super Region Tournament held in Moorhead, Minn. Saturday February 26
th with a start time estimated for 10 a.m.
