MINOT, ND- The Minot State women's basketball team returns to action in the MSU Dome on Friday, Feb. 11 at 5:30 p.m. against the St. Cloud State University Huskies. Followed by a 3:30 p.m. tip off against the University of Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs on Saturday, Feb. 12 in the MSU Dome.
Last Time Out
Minot State (8-14 overall, 6-9 NSIC) enters the weekend looking to put an end to their four-game losing streak. The Beavers were bested by both Bemidji State and the University of Minnesota Crookston on the road last weekend. Minot State looks to remain consistent in the MSU Dome where they have won their last three home contests.
Leading the way
NSIC Player of the Month
Amber Stevahn leads the charge for the Beavers, posting better than 20 points and 7 rebounds per game in the month of January. Her 17.8 points per game on the season is good for 2
nd in the NSIC.
Playoff Push
The Minot State women's basketball team currently is fifth in the NSIC North and chasing Northern State for the right to host a home playoff game. Minot State plays at Northern State on Thursday, Feb. 17. The Beavers won the two teams' first meeting, 89-81 in double overtime.
Scouting St. Cloud State
The Huskies (18-3 overall, 16-2 NSIC) enter weekend play winners of seven consecutive games. Their 16 conference wins leaves them tied with Minnesota Duluth for the best record in the NSIC. Tori Wortz, Nikki Kilboten and Brehna Evans lead the offensive attack for the Huskies, each averaging more than 12 points per game.
Scouting the Bulldogs
The University of Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs (18-4 overall, 16-2 NSIC) enter the weekend winners of 10 games in a row. The Bulldogs find themselves tied with St. Cloud State for the top spot in the NSIC. Senior forward Brooke Olson leads the offense for Minnesota Duluth with over 17 points per game.
Next Time Out
The Beavers travel to Northern State University on Thursday, Feb. 17 for a 5:30 p.m. tip off against the Wolves. Followed by a 1:30 p.m. tip off against the Dragons of Minnesota State University Moorhead in the MSU Dome to conclude the regular season.
