Beavers look to secure playoff spot in final regular season weekend

MINOT, ND- The Beavers travel to Northern State University on Thursday, Feb. 17 for a 5:30 p.m. tip off against the Wolves. This matchup will be followed by a 1:30 p.m. tip off against the Dragons of Minnesota State University Moorhead, Saturday Feb. 19 in the MSU Dome to conclude the regular season.

Last Time Out
Minot State (8-16 overall, 6-11 NSIC) enters the weekend looking to secure a spot in the playoffs. The Beavers were bested by both St. Cloud State University and the University of Minnesota Duluth at the MSU Dome last weekend. Minot State looks to upset rivals this week with one road game followed by the final regular season game at home.

Leading the Way
Natasha Elliott led the charge for the Beavers against the Bulldogs, posting 17 points and 11 rebounds. Emma Mogen helped out Minot State as well with 11 rebounds. Kate Head added 14 points and two steals against Minnesota Duluth.

Scouting Northern State
The Wolves (11-13 overall, 8-11 NSIC) enter final weekend play 1-1 in previous two games. Kailee Oliverson leads Northern State in points, averaging 15.8 points per game and has recorded 5 games with 25 or more points this season. Laurie Rodgers leads the team in rebounding, averaging 7.9 rebounds per game. The Beavers won the two teams' first meeting, 89-81 in double overtime. 

Scouting the Dragons
The Dragons of MSU Moorhead (7-13 overall, 6-10 NSIC) with a 1-1 record in last weekend's games against Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston. The Dragons find themselves in a race to qualify for the tournament, as Peyton Bloom leads the team, averaging 15.4 points per game. Bloom also leads MSU Moorhead averaging 6.7 rebounds per game this season.

Playoff Push
The Minot State women's basketball team is currently locked in a four-way battle with Northern State, MSU Moorhead and UMary for spots 4-6 in the NSIC North. The NSIC tournament is on the line as teams enter the final weekend, and only the top six teams will qualify.
