MINOT, N.D. – The action on the mats might still be a few months away but the Beavers are excited for what is sure to be a fun-filled and action-packed year of wrestling.
Minot State head coach
Evan Forde is pleased to announce the Beavers 2022-23 men's wrestling schedule, a lineup of tournaments and duals packed with challenging NSIC competition, a big weekend road trip to Colorado, and highlighted by the first-ever side-by-side men's and women's home duals in Beaver wrestling history.
"We have a very competitive, full schedule planned this season; I am excited to compete alongside our women's program at home for the first time," Forde said.
"I am also looking forward to our trip to Western Colorado University for the Western Colorado Open tournament and the Tracy Borah Duals," Minot State's coach added. "It should be a fun trip and we will see some great competition outside of the NSIC."
The Beaver men's wrestling team heads to Colorado just after the Christmas and New Year's break competing at the Western Colorado Open on Friday, Jan. 6, then at the Tracy Borah Duals hosted by Western Colorado on Saturday, Jan. 7.
That weekend road-trip will be the final non-conference tune-up for the Beavers before they begin a nine-match NSIC slate.
But the season opens well before that time with Minot State hitting the mats for a preseason intrasquad dual on Sunday, Oct. 30, at the MSU Dome, then the regular season begins in earnest for the Beavers on Saturday, Nov. 5, when they compete at the Jamestown Open.
Minot State then heads to Fargo for one more tournament, the Bison Open hosted by North Dakota State on Saturday, Nov. 12, before teaming up with the first-year Minot State women's wrestling program to host a historic weekend of action at the MSU Dome.
The Minot State men will host duals against Jamestown and the University of Saskatchewan on Saturday, Nov. 19, competing alongside the Beaver women's wrestling team.
The Minot State women's team will host duals on Friday, Nov. 18, along with duals against Jamestown, Saskatchewan, and Chadron State (Neb.) on Saturday, Nov. 19, alongside the men's action.
Following that historic weekend at home at the MSU Dome, the Beavers are back on the road as they compete in the Dragon Open hosted by Minnesota State Moorhead on Dec. 3, then in a dual at Dickinson State on Dec. 9 before closing out the 2022 calendar year with a non-conference clash with in-state rival the University of Mary in Bismarck on Sunday, Dec. 11.
Back in action after the new year at those two tournaments in Colorado, the Beavers then return to the Midwest to open NSIC action with duals at Augustana on Jan. 12, then at Northern State on Jan. 13.
Then, after two months away from the friendly confines of the MSU Dome, the Minot State men's wrestling team is back home for four straight matches starting by hosting Minnesota State Moorhead on Thursday, Jan. 19, in a dual.
The Beavers then host Mary in an NSIC match on Sunday, Jan. 22, then wrap up the homestand hosting Upper Iowa on Jan. 27 and wrestling-only NSIC member Parkside (Wis.) on Jan. 28.
Following the long-awaited homestand, Minot State hits the road again competing at Minnesota State, Mankato on Feb. 2 and at Southwest Minnesota State on Feb. 3.
Minot State then wraps up the regular season hosting St. Cloud State on Feb. 11, then heads to the postseason competing at the NCAA Super Region Tournament hosted by Northern State on Saturday, Feb. 25.
