Van De Griend and Cook have double-doubles in Minot State's dominant victory over UPR-Bayamón

San Juan, PR – Caleb Van De Griend and Jalen Cook both recorded double-doubles to help lead the Minot State men's basketball team over the UPR-Bayamón Cowboys 100-58 on Friday.

The Beavers (4-0) had four players score in double figures, led by Van De Griend, who notched a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Trey Brandt added 13 points off the bench and Cook chipped in as well with a double-double consisting of 12 points and 10 rebounds.

The Beavers also turned in a record-setting performance sharing the ball, tying the school record for assists as a team with 26 - matching the 2008-09 and 2009-10 teams who had 26 assists against Briercrest (Jan. 11, 2010) and Brandon (Dec. 8, 2008) - and breaking the NCAA Division II-era record of 25 set against Yellowstone Christian on Nov. 23, 2019.

Minot State's defense held UPR-Bayamón to only 34.5 percent shooting from the field, including 25 percent from beyond the arc.
