Minot, N.D. – The Minot State men's wrestling team is preparing for one of the most prestigious tournaments of the season, the 45th Annual Midwest Classic, taking place this Saturday and Sunday in Indianapolis, Indiana. This tournament serves as a significant test for the Beavers as they face top competition from across the nation, with 44 NCAA Division II teams scheduled to participate.
The Midwest Classic is renowned for its competitive field, featuring 15 of the top 20 teams in the country. It provides an excellent opportunity for wrestlers to showcase their skills on a national stage. This year, three Beavers have earned pre-seeds heading into the event:
Brendan Barnes, who enters as the 16th pre-seed,
Cannon Potts with the 12th pre-seed, and
Jake Swirple, who holds the 9th pre-seed in their respective weight classes.
The Midwest Classic promises to deliver high-intensity matchups and a chance for the Beavers to test themselves against some of the best teams and individuals in Division II wrestling. The event not only highlights the strength of the Minot State program but also provides valuable experience as the team works toward postseason success.
