MINOT, N.D. – The Minot State men's hockey team remained at No. 2 heading into this week, while the Beaver women's hockey team climbed three spots to No. 4 as the ACHA released its Men's and Women's Division I national polls.
The polls are based on records for teams through Sunday, Oct. 26.
The Minot State men (6-0-1 overall) held onto the No. 2 spot in the poll, and likely will climb in next week's poll, as the Beavers scored a 4-2 win on Tuesday night over No. 1-ranked UNLV (7-1-0), which was previously unbeaten and ranked No. 1 for the fourth straight week in the latest poll.
Ohio is ranked No. 3 in this week's men's poll, followed by No. 4 Adrian (Mich.) and No. 5 Liberty (Va.).
Minot State's in-state rivals, Jamestown and Mary, were ranked No. 6 and No. 12, respectively. The Beavers host No. 12 Mary on Friday night at the Maysa Arena, part of a women's and men's hockey doubleheader with a Halloween trunk-or-treat between games at 6 p.m.
In the women's poll, the Beavers (4-2-4 overall) moved up 3 spots to No. 4 after a 2-2 tie and a 4-0 win against then-No. 4 Arizona State at the Maysa Arena over the weekend.
The Beavers host new No. 1, Midland (16-1-0), this weekend at the Maysa Arena in a pair of games scheduled for 3:45 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
Following the Warriors in the latest women's poll are Liberty (Va.) at No. 2, McKendree (Ill.) at No. 3, Minot State at No. 4, and Maryville (Mo.) at No. 5.
