MINOT, N.D.— The Minot State women's basketball team is hitting the road on Sunday, hitting to face Montana State University-Northern in Havre, Montana.
The Beavers enter the matchup following a challenging but productive exhibition stretch that featured a 72-49 comeback win at Mayville State and a competitive test against Division I Montana State. In Bozeman, Minot State showed strong perimeter shooting, knocking down nine three-pointers while forcing 16 turnovers against the Bobcats.
Taryn Hamling continues to set the tone for Minot State after averaging 15.7 points during the preseason, while sophomore forward Maya Aguilar has proven herself as a key contributor with both her scoring and rebounding ability. Lara Dobbins adds another scoring threat from the perimeter, leading the Beavers with 17 points in the win over Mayville.
Montana State University-Northern comes into Sunday's contest at 2-1 after dropping a game to Texas A&M San Antonio and defeating both Wayland Baptist University and the University of Providence. The Skylights are led by Becky Melcher, who's averaging 14.3 points per game early in the season.
Sunday's matchup gives the Beavers the opportunity to build on their early progress and establish momentum as the team continues with their non-conference schedule.
Tip-off is set for 1:00pm (MT) Sunday in Havre, Montana. After Sunday's contest, the Beavers will move forward by hosting both Montana State University Billings and Bismarck State College.
