Women's Wrestling

Men's and women's wrestling set to compete this weekend at home in the 4th annual Beaver Bash Duals

Minot State Wrestling is set for a full weekend of action as the program hosts the 4th Annual Beaver Bash Duals on Friday and a Women's Open Tournament on Saturday inside the MSU Dome.  Friday's Beaver Bash will feature both the men's and women's teams competing simultaneously on two mats beginning at 10:00 AM, with duals running consecutively throughout the day.  On Saturday, the women return to the mat for a standalone open tournament beginning at 9:00 AM.  With strong competition and several standout Beavers leading the way, it promises to be an exciting weekend of wrestling.

MSU Men's Wrestling:
The Minot State men will compete exclusively on Friday during the Beaver Bash, taking on Bismarck State, Saskatchewan, and Northland Community & Technical College.  The Beavers enter the event behind strong early season performances from key wrestlers.  Gavin Turk (174 lbs) has been a standout, winning the Jimmie Open Title, posting an 8-2 record, and earning 5th place at the Dakota Wesleyan Open.  At 125 pounds, true freshman Cole Faircloth has also impressed, entering the weekend with a 7-4 record after placing 4th at the Jimmie Open and 5th at the Dakota Wesleyan Open.  Both athletes will be pivotal as the Beavers face three strong opponents on Friday.

MSU Women's Wrestling:
The Minot State women will also compete in Friday's Beaver Bash Duals, taking on Chadron State, Sioux Falls, Saskatchewan, and Dickinson State.  The women will return to the Dome on Saturday for a Women's Open Tournament beginning at 9:00 AM, featuring Jamestown, Dakota Wesleyan, and Bismarck State.  The women's roster features several top performers ready to make an impact throughout the weekend.  Leading the way is Haleigh Lematta (145 lbs), a two-time national qualifier who has started the season hot with a 7-1 record and a 2nd-place finish at the Waldorf Open.  At 207 pounds, Aniya Herbin, a sophomore transfer, brings strength and momentum with a 6-3 record and a 5th-place finish at Waldorf.

With both teams in action Friday and the women returning for more competition on Saturday, the 4th Annual Beaver Bash weekend is shaping up to be a thrilling showcase of Minot State Wrestling.
