Beavers Carry Momentum into Road Tests at Duluth and Bemidji

MINOT, N.D.-- Riding the momentum of back-to-back conference wins, the Beavers head back on the road this week for a pair of NSIC contests in Minnesota. The Beavers will face the University of Minnesota Duluth on Thursday at 7:30 pm before traveling to Bemidji State University for a Saturday afternoon matchup at 3:30 pm

Minot State enters the week at 6-6 overall and 3-2 in NSIC play after two strong performances at home. On Thursday, the Beavers earned a 78-68 win over Minnesota State Moorhead, shooting 50 percent from beyond the arc while holding the Dragons to just 30.7 percent shooting from the field. Tiyahna Trottier led the way with 16 points and four blocks, while Taryn Hamling added 14 points and eight rebounds.

The Beavers followed that performance with an 84-53 win over Minnesota Crookston on Saturday, highlighted by a record-setting night from Hamling. The sophomore guard knocked down seven three-pointers, an NCAA Division II-era program record, on her way to a game-high 25 points. Minot State continued its strong defensive play in the win, holding the Golden Eagles to 31.2 percent shooting while controlling the glass and forcing turnovers.

Thursday's matchup at Minnesota Duluth presents a tough road test as the Bulldogs sit at 7-2 overall. The Bulldogs are led by sophomore Claire Bjorge who has claimed 128 points and senior Lexi Karge who has snagged 47 total rebounds.

On Saturday, the Beavers will square off with Bemidji State, who are sitting 6-3 overall. Senior Kassandra Caron leads Bemidji in points with a total of 176. Sophomore Aubrey Heyer is also making an impact, leading Bemidji in rebounds with a total of 65.

Tipoff is set for 7:30 pm Thursday in Duluth, Minnesota, and 3:30 pm Saturday in Bemidji, Minnesota. After completion of this week's games, the Beavers will look to return to the court after Christmas break.
