The Minot State men's wrestling team enters one of its toughest weekends of the year as the Beavers face No. 14 University of Mary on Friday, December 5th at 7 p.m., followed by a quick turnaround into a showdown with No. 9 St. Cloud State on Saturday, December 6th at 12 p.m. Minot State's lineup features strong performers across all weights, including
Cole Faircloth (9-4) at 125,
Kekoa Ogawa (2-1) at 141,
Ethan Wonser (3-2) at 149,
Gavin Turk (10-2) at 174,
Payton Wayman (6-4) at 184, and the heavyweight pair of
Carmine Morton (7-5) and
Zach Allen (4-4).
Friday's dual against UMary includes several key match ups. At 141 pounds, Ogawa will take on No. 3-ranked Sean Solias, while the 157-pound match features
Roman Leifridt or
Albert Lawrenz against No. 7-ranked Kaden Renner. The heavyweight match ups highlight the dual, with Morton or Allen meeting No. 5-ranked Luke Tweeton.
On Saturday, Minot State turn its attention to St. Cloud State, another nationally elite program. At 157, the Beavers face another premier athlete, No. 2-ranked Joel Jesuroga. The weekend's featured match comes at 174, where Turk, who has opened the season at 10-2, will challenge No. 4-ranked Dryce Dagel in a top-five showdown. At 184, Wayman or Flannigan are set to meet No. 3-ranked Cole Glazier, adding another high-level test to the Beavers' lineup.
