FARGO, N.D. – Following Easter break competition, another busy weekend is in store. The Minot State Track and Field team will make their 2
nd trip to Fargo in 3 weeks for the Bison Open.
The Beavers will kick things off at noon on Thursday for the start of a 2-day meet at the Terrence Dahl and Donna Beres Track Complex at North Dakota State University.
It is another week of opportunities for the speedy Beavers to show out their skillset. Many of those donning Minot State jerseys did indeed show out last time.
The gang split up briefly as MSU sent a few runners to the Phil Esten Challenge in Wisconsin before the Blue Hawk Games in Dickinson.
Emery Smith dominated the record books with a new women's 10,000-meter record. With a 5
th place finish, Smith went for 37 minutes, 8.53 seconds that broke an NCAA era record that was standing for 10 years. She beat out Allison Windish who had 38:05.31 in 2015, and it jumped to 2
nd all-time behind Genevieve Binsfeld's result of 36:25.34 in 2006.
Alongside Smith,
Grayson Bonilla made his best effort ever in the men's 10,000 meters. A lifetime best for him was 33:56.96, good for 52
nd and 8
th fastest race all-time in Minot State team history.
Camden Jasmin finished 26
th in the men's 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:34.79.
3 Beavers are looking to follow up 1
st-place finishes last weekend in Dickinson with another strong outing.
Ramon Duran,
Peyton Tuhy, and
Summer Krebsbach all gathered individual wins for the Beavers in their respective events.
Krebsbach tied her old record in the women's 100 meters at 12.07 seconds. Shortly after in the women's 200 meters,
Camryn Adams placed 3
rd after recording a time of 25.34 seconds.
Duran continues to make his mark in the men's 400-meter hurdles. He clocked in at 53.28 seconds. Fellow Beaver
Zaccharius Brown was right behind him in the top 5 at 55.99 seconds also in the 400M hurdles.
Tuhy's time in the men's 1500 meters was 4 minutes, 3.24 seconds as he cleared the competition.
Looking at some other notable performances, the men's 4 x 100 relay got 3
rd place with a time of 42.54 seconds.
Zander Grover went for 2 minutes, 1.79 seconds in the men's 800 meters for a top 5 finish.
Devan Daniels got 4
th place in the men's 200 meters at 22.03 seconds.
Back on the women's side,
Paulette Dominguez rose to 2
nd place in the women's 1500 meters with her time coming in at 5 minutes, 2.20 seconds.
Sidra Sadowsky had another nice day in the women's 3000-meter steeplechase. She placed 2
nd after going 11:13.98.
Bailey Wride also snuck in with a time of 11 minutes, 42.91 seconds.
Out in the field events,
Dallas Reese collected a 3
rd-place result in the men's shot put going for 15.34 meters (50 feet and 4 inches).
Evan Hartt jumped all the way to 2
nd in the men's discus after throwing for 149 feet and 7 inches (45.6m).
The Beavers will be in Fargo for 2 days this week. Following the festivities, they will wrap up the North Dakota stretch with the final regular season outdoor meet in Bismarck with the Marauders/Mystics Tune-Up. The event is set for April 30 with start time TBA.
