MINOT, N.D. – The 5
th-ranked Minot State women's hockey team will be well represented on the ice next Sunday, January 25, as six Beavers have been named to the Women's Midwest College Hockey West All-Star Team.
The WMCH All-Star game caps the 3
rd annual WMCH Showcase hosted by Maryville. Minot State will play Lindenwood on Thursday, McKendree on Friday, and Liberty on Saturday at the Showcase, with the WMCH All-Star game scheduled for noon on Sunday, January 25, at the Maryville University Hockey Center in Chesterfield, Missouri.
Minot State (9-6-5 overall, 7-6-1 WMCH) forwards
Cameron Schmidt,
Paige Kozak, and
Olivia Kirwan will play for the WMCH West All-Stars, along with Beaver defensemen
Erica Fijala and
Abby Pineau, and Minot State goalie
Jillian Ackerman.
Schmidt leads the Beavers in total points and assists this season with 3 goals and 6 assists for 9 points, while Kozak has 3 goals and 4 assists for Minot State, and Kirwan also has 3 goals and a pair of assists.
Pineau has added 2 goals and 5 assists for Minot State, and Fijala has 2 goals and 4 assists for the Beavers this season.
Minot State's starting goalie, Ackerman, has 7 wins in 18 games this season with 5 shutouts, a 94.5 save percentage, and a 1.53 goals against average.
Prior to heading to Missouri for the WMCH Showcase next weekend, the Minot State women host No. 13 Indiana Tech in a pair of games at the All Seasons Arena at the North Dakota State Fairgrounds this weekend. Games are at 7:30 p.m. both nights as the Beavers host the Warriors on Friday and Saturday, January 16 and 17.
