MINOT, N.D. – Coming off back-to-back strong showings to start the season, the Minot State golf teams make the short trip to Bismarck this Monday and Tuesday to take on the Marauder Classic hosted by the University of Mary at the Hawktree Golf Course.
The Minot State men turned in two straight 7
th-place finishes at major tournaments filled with NSIC foes in the opening two weeks of the season, led by different players each week.
Junior transfer
Max Palmer led the way the opening weekend, tying for 2
nd at the MSU/CSP Fall Brawl, then sophomore
Kasen Rostad paced the Beavers this past week, tying for 12
th at The Jewel Invitational.
Who will be the Minot State player to watch this week remains to be seen, but last season the Beavers were 6
th as a team at the Mary tournament, led by Rostad, who tied for 10
th.
As for the Minot State women, after an 11
th-place finish the opening week at the MSU/CSP Fall Brawl, they climbed a spot to finish 10
th this past week at The Jewel Invitational.
Freshman
Emily Watts has led the way both weeks, finishing tied for 4
th at the season-opener, then tying for 11
th this past week.

Natalie Van Dort was one shot behind her this past week at The Jewel as Van Dort finished tied for 16
th, giving the Minot State ladies a strong one-two finish.
This week will be both players' first time competing at Hawktree, where the Minot State women finished 3rd last fall.
Following this week's close-to-home trip to Bismarck, the Minot State golf teams will get the honor of hosting their first tournament in the Beavers' NCAA era as a field of eight teams is prepared to tee off at Beowulf Golf Club for 36 holes of collegiate competition on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 5 and 6.
