BISMARCK, N.D. - Powered by the women's low round of the day of 3-over 75 by Natalie Van Dort, the Minot State women's golf team finds itself in first place after the opening 18 holes of the United Printing Marauders Invitational hosted by the University of Mary.

Van Dort holds a 4-shot lead in the individual standings ahead of teammate Emily Watts, who sits alone in second place at 7-over 79, 3 shots better than third-place Ayla Larson from Alexandria Technical & Community College.

As for the Beaver women's team, they hold an 11-shot advantage on second place and tournament host, Mary, as Minot State opened the tournament with a 49-over 337.

While the Minot State women and Van Dort both lead after day one at the Hawktree Golf Course, the Minot State men are 9th and 10th, sending two teams onto the course to compete.

The Beavers "A" team shot a 24-over 312, while the Beavers "B" team shot 34-over 322.

Max Palmer and Kasen Rostad led the way for the Minot State men's "A" team, as Palmer is tied for 9th at 1-over 73, and Rostad is tied for 13th, one shot back of him at 2-over 74.

Minot High product Brock Jones led the way for the Minot State men's "B" team, shooting 4-over 76 and is tied for 24th.

Porter Barnett was next for the Minot State "A" team, as he shot an 8-over 80 and is tied for 41st, while Quinn Shillingstad and Cameron Schwab were tied at 62nd with matching 13-over 85s.

Gunther Soltvedt was next for the Beavers' "B" team, as he shot 8-over 80 and is tied with Barnett in 41st, while Fischer Johnson shot 10-over 82 and is tied for 50th, Michael Felchle is tied for 59th at 12-over 84, and Joshua Lindbo is 69th at 26-over 98.

Minot State's Kaden Carlson, also in the field and playing as an individual, is tied for 41st at 8-over 80.

Augustana leads the men's team standings by 7 shots over host Mary, with the Vikings carding a team total of 4-under 284. The Vikings' Henry Hartquist leads the individual standings by 2 shots after a 5-over 67.

On the women's side, Micaela Resler helped power the Beavers into first place, as she matched her season low, shooting 18-over 90, and is tied for 10th, while Carlie Brown is 16th at 21-over 9, and Macie Sebelius is 23rd at 25-over 97.

The tournament wraps up Tuesday with a final 18 holes of action at the Hawktree Golf Course.
