Augustana uses 3s to knock off Beavers

Minot State hits just 39 percent of shots in loss

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Minot State University women's basketball was held to just 33.9 percent shooting as Augustana College defeated the Beavers 66-55 in NCAA Division II women's basketball Saturday at the Elmen Center.

The Beavers (2-3 overall) hit just 20 field goals in the game and were held to just 1-for-7 shooting on 3-pointers.

Augustana College (1-1) didn't shoot the ball very well either, hitting just 39.1 percent, but made five more field goals total and knocked down a total of 12 3-pointers. The Vikings finished the night going 12 of 25 from beyond the arc.

The Vikings took a 32-28 lead at halftime and held MSU to just 27 second-half points.

Minot State got another great night from the Carly Boag (So., F, Tamworth, Australia) and Christina Boag (So., F, Tamworth, Australia), but didn't get much scoring beyond the twins. Carly Boag led all scorers with 23 points and added 15 rebounds. Christina Boag added 11 points, six rebounds and three blocks. But MSU only got a combined 21 points from the rest of the team.

Alex Feeney paced AC with 16 points and 12 rebounds, while Cami Koehn scored 13 points and Molly Hayes added 12.

Lauren Safranski (Jr., G, Burnsville, Minn.) scored eight points for MSU, while Katie Hardy (So., F, Hinsdale, Mont.) added six points and five rebounds for the Beavers.

MSU returns home for a 6 p.m. game against rival University of Mary Wednesday at the MSU Dome.
