Box Score BEMIDJI, Minn.- The Minot State University volleyball avenged a previous loss to Bemidji State University with a tough-fought NSIC road win.
The Beavers beat BSU in straight sets Saturday afternoon, 25-23, 30-28, 25-19.
In the first two sets Minot State (6-20 overall 2-14 NSIC) used timely and accurate serving to secure their wins. Freshman
Mallory Sall (OH, Port Coquitlam, British Columbia) used a service ace to win set one while senior
Shari Hewson (MH, New England, N.D.) served two consecutive aces to give MISU the win in set two.
“It was big for us to play things close,” said Minot State head coach
Travis Ward. “We kept believing and it paid off. I think our best players just played better than their best players today.”
Sall led Minot State with 22 kills while also digging five attacks. Setter
Emily Byrne (So., Reno, Nev.) also had a good game dishing out 30 assists throughout the three sets.
“In my opinion, Mallory (Sall) had her best outing of the year,” said Ward. “Getting 22 kills in three sets is not easy and she did a great job of minimizing her errors today.”
In the loss, BSU (4-19 overall 2-14 NSIC) was led by Bethany Thompson with 15 kills and seven digs.
MISU will now head back to the Magic City as they host their final home match of the season against the Northern State University Wolves. The match is set for Thursday Nov. 1 at 7 p.m.
