THIS WEEK: Minot State returns to the Minot State Dome for its first ever Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference home double header, playing host to Minnesota State-Moorhead Friday (6 p.m.) and Northern State Saturday (4 p.m.).
RECORDS: MISU is 3-0 overall, 1-0 in the NSIC. MSU-M comes to Minot with a 4-1 overall record, 1-0 NSIC. Northern State is 4-1 overall and 0-1 in the NSIC.
COACHES CORNER:
Sheila Green Gerding begins her 18th season as the Minot State head coach and sports a lofty 304-198 record. Karla Nelson is in her 13th season at Moorhead and has a solid 211-138 overall record. Curt Fredrickson has been at the helm of the NSU program for 34 seasons, racking up an impressive 710-259 record.

RANKINGS: Minot State, Minnesota State-Moorhead and Northern State were not ranked in the latest USA Today Division II Coaches Top 25 Poll.
RECENT HISTORY: The Beavers stormed all the way back from a 15-point deficit to clip the University of Mary 74-73 in Bismarck for its first Northern Sun win. Minnesota State-Moorhead earned a big 66-54 win over Northern State in Aberdeen, S.D.
OVERALL SERIES: Minot State has only two wins over MSU-M in 15 games and is 0-1 against the Dragons as a member the NCAA Division II. The Beavers trail Northern State 1-0 in the series while members of DII.
NOTING THE DRAGONS: Minnesota State-Moorhead held Northern State to just 27.9 percent shooting in its 66-54 win over the Wolves on the road to open the conference… Junior Morgan Zabel has scored in double figures in all five games for the Dragons this season, averaging 13.2 on the season. She is second in the conference in 3-point percentage at 57.1 (8-14)… The Dragons were the model of a .500 team last year, going 11-11 in conference play, 14-13 overall, getting outscored by an average of 0.2 in NSIC games and outscoring opponents by 1 point per game overall. MSU-M has been great from the free-throw line this season, sinking 80.6 percent on the season.
NOTING THE WOLVES: Northern State University lost for the first time at home this season in the loss to MSU-Moorhead, a rare home defeat. The Wolves are 20-9 overall at home in the past three seasons… The Wolves struggled shooting in the loss to MSU-M, hitting just 27.9 percent, including 2 of 11 on 3-pointers… Sophomore forward Rachel Krogman just missed her fourth double-double of the year as she pulled down nine rebounds to go along with 16 points against Moorhead. Krogman is third in the conference in rebounding, averaging 9.8 per contest, including an NSIC high 23 offensive boards… Northern State is just 14th overall in scoring per game in the NSIC, averaging 64.8 points per game, but is a respectable sixth overall in scoring defense (59.4).

THANK YOU MINOT: Minot State is celebrating Community Appreciation Night Friday as a thank you to the city of Minot and Northwest North Dakota for its support through the transition from NAIA to NCAA Division II. The MISU Athletic Department will serve cake, coffee and lemonade in between the women's and the men's game on Friday on the third floor of the Dome. Everyone who is admitted to the games is invited to have a piece of cake.
BANNER WEEK FOR BOAG: Minot State junior forward
Carly Boag (Tamworth, Australia) was named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Player of the Week following a career-high 31 points in the win at the University of Mary. Boag leads the NSIC in scoring at 19.7 points per game, knocking down 23 field goals, a 3-pointers (her first collegiate 3 against U-Mary) and 12 free throws. She is also 10th overall in rebounds per game at 8.3.
COACHING CLINIC: The three coaches who will patrol the sidelines at the MSU Dome this weekend have combined for 1,226 wins total. MSU-Moorhead's Karla Nelson is the least experienced and least successful in terms of total wins with 211 total in 13 years. Minot State's
Sheila Green Gerding has 305 wins in 18 years at MISU. But the two of them combined don't equal NSU's Curt Fredrickson's 710 wins in 34 years. He is the second winningest active head women's basketball coach in NCAA Division II. Fredrickson has just 31 games to go to reach 1,000 total and has an impressive 73.2 winnings percentage. Green Gerding's winning percentage is a solid 60.6 overall.
THE KING OF THE COURT: Minot State freshman
Savana Kingsbury (F, Omaha, Neb.) had a breakout game as she scored eight points and pulled down five rebounds while playing 23 minutes against U-Mary. She was the Beavers main post player during the second half as
Carly Boag was forced to sit due to foul trouble. Kingsbury hit 3 of 5 shots and had a key basket late in the game to give MISU a 1-point lead. Over her past two games, she is averaging nine points and 5.5 rebounds.
DOME SWEET DOME: Minot State is undefeated so far at the MSU Dome this season, winning both of its nonconference games at home. The Beavers have been outstanding on their home court over the past six seasons, winning 53 games. MISU is 53-16 at home during that span, not losing more than four games in any one season at the Dome. The Beavers were a perfect 15-0 at the Dome in 2010-11, their final season in the NAIA.
BATTLING IN WITH THE TREES: Senior guard
Sacarra Molina (Hinsdale, Mont.), despite being one of the smallest players on the court for Minot State at 5-foot-7, has been a solid rebounder during her entire career. She averages 3.8 rebounds per game during her four-year career and had a career high 12 rebounds against the University of Mary. She earned her first double-double of the season as she scored 13 points to go along with the 12 rebounds at U-Mary.
