THIS WEEK: Minot State University enters a tough week as they play host to three teams with at least 10 wins and two ranked opponents. It starts with a home date with intrastate rival University of Mary Tuesday (6 p.m.) and ends with road trips to No. 22 Wayne State College Friday and No. 13 Augustana College Saturday.
RECORDS: MISU is 8-5 overall, 4-5 in NSIC play. U-Mary is 10-5 overall and 5-4 in conference action. Wayne State comes into the week at 10-3 overall and 6-3 in the NSIC, while Augustana College is 7-2 and 11-2.
COACHES CORNER:
Sheila Green Gerding is in her 18th season as the Minot State head coach and sports a lofty 310-203 record. Rick Neumann is in his first season as head coach of the Marauders after serving as an assistant since 2003. He is 10-5 overall. Chris Kielsmeier is 109-28 in his fifth season at Wayne State College and 288-72 in 12 seasons as a head coach. Dave Krauth is in his 24th season as the head coach at Augustana College and is an impressive 476-211 during that span.

RANKINGS: Augustana College comes in as the No. 13 ranked team in the country in the latest USA Today Division II Coaches' Top 25 Poll and Wayne State is ranked 22nd. Minot State and U-Mary were not ranked in the poll.
RECENT HISTORY: Minot State earned its first Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference sweep, knocking off Upper Iowa and Winona State over the weekend. U-Mary also defeated both Upper Iowa and Winona. Wayne State edged Minnesota Crookston Friday (59-57) and finished off a sweep with an 89-68 win over Bemidji State. Augustana College hammered both UMC (93-57) and BSU (92-44) on the weekend.
OVERALL SERIES: Minot State has a 2-1 lead over the University of Mary in women's basketball action as a NCAA Division II member, with each win coming by the visiting team. The Beavers trail the series with Augustana College 1-0 and is playing Wayne State College for the first time in DII play.
NOTING THE MARAUDERS: University of Mary has utilized the 3-pointer better than just about anybody in the conference, knocking down 126 (2nd total to Winona State) 3s on 329 attempts for a 38.3 percent average… Ali Collins leads the conference in assists per game, dishing out five per game. She has 75 assists, 11 better than anyone else in the conference… The Marauders are one of six teams to have a double-figure scoring margin, carrying a plus-11.5 ppg., into Tuesday's game… Shauna Knife leads the conference in blocks, with 33, the only player in the NSIC to average two or more blocks per game.
NOTING THE WILDCATS: Wayne State College is coming off one of its most successful campaigns in school history as the Wildcats finished 32-3 in 2011-12, winning the NSIC regular season and tournament championships as well as the NCAA Central Region championship… Jordan Spencer has hit 54.1 percent of her shots to lead the team with an 18.7 points per game average… WSC comes into the week ranked in the top 6 in every category in the Northern Sun except 3-point field goal percentage, where the Wildcats are second to last with just a 30.3 percent average… Addy Roller has 62 assists on the season and just 29 turnovers, good for an outstanding 2.14 assist-to-turnover ratio, tops in the NSIC.
NOTING THE VIKINGS: Augustan College didn't take too kindly to getting swept in conference play and took it out of Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston on the road. The Vikings won their two NSIC games by a combined 84 points… The Vikings have an impressive plus-24.8 scoring margin, leading the NSIC in scoring at 82.4 points per game, while allowing just 57.6… Emily Schulte has missed just three free throws in 37 attempts for a 91.9 percent average from the line… While leading the conference with an 82.4 per game scoring average, the Vikings don't have a player in the top 10 in the NSIC in scoring. Alex Feeney leads the team with a 13.8 per game scoring average, but is one of six players who have scored at least 100 points on the season… AC has been especially tough on opponents in the first half, outscoring teams 515-344.
HOME DOME-INATION: Minot State is seeking its 100 the win at the Minot State Dome since the 2003-04 season. In the past 10 seasons, the Beavers are 99-34 (73.8 winning percentage) at home and haven't posted a losing record at the Dome during that span. The Beavers have been especially stingy at home over the past couple of seasons, posting a perfect 15-0 season at home in 1010-11 and are 7-1 overall this year. In the past seven seasons, Minot State is 70-18 (79.5 percent) in Minot and haven't lost more than four games in any one season.
CAROL HAYES, MEET CARLY BOAG: Minot State junior
Carly Boag (F, Tamworth, Australia) tied the Beavers' school record with 37 points in the win over Upper Iowa Friday. She tied a 14-year record by former Beavers All-American Carol Hayes. Hayes, a Valier, Mont., native, set the mark in a superb season where she set the team's single season scoring average, pouring in 21.3 points per game. Hayes also set the team's 3-pointers in a season record (11) and 3-pointers in a season record (85).
KENDRA MEYER, MEET CARLY BOAG:
Carly Boag also became the fastest Minot State player to reach 900 points in her career, as she surpassed the mark in her 67th career game (Upper Iowa), eclipsing former standout Kendra Meyer's mark of 76 games. Meyer is the school's all-time leading scorer, netting 1,710 in a fantastic four-year career. Boag, who was named the NSIC Player of the Week for the second time this season, now needs just 80 points to surpass 1,000 career points.

Sacarra Molina (G, Hinsdale, Mont.), but has received a lift from a third player in each of its past two wins. In Friday's win over Upper Iowa,
Francesca DeAngelis (Sr., G, Laguna Niguel, Calif.) had her best game as a Beavers, dumping in a season-high 18 points to go along with seven rebounds and two steals. Against Winona State, it was
Morgan Klose's (Fr., G, Fairview, N.D.) turn. Klose hit for 14 points, pulled down six rebounds and finished with four assists in the win. She was 3 for 4 on 3-pointers, tying her with Molina for the team lead with 17 triples.
TOUGH STRETCH: Minot State passed the first test of its toughest stretch of the season, topping Winona State 59-57 on Saturday. The Beavers play all four of the league's teams either nationally ranked or receiving votes over the next seven games. They also take on all five of the teams currently with at least 10 wins, starting with 11-5 Winona State. The Beavers take on No. 22 Wayne State (10-3 overall) Friday, No. 13 Augustana College (11-2) Saturday, receiving votes St. Cloud State (11-2) Jan. 25 and No. 24 Minnesota State (11-2) Feb. 2. Also mixed in to those games are a pair of 6-3 NSIC teams, Minnesota Duluth (Jan. 26) and Concordia-St. Paul (Feb. 1).
