COACHES CORNER: Sheila Green Gerding is in her 18th season as the Minot State head coach and sports a lofty 311-207 record. The Golden Bears head coach Paul Fessler has an impressive 268-117 record in his 13th season as head coach. Emilee Thiesse was named head coach at Minnesota State in August and sports a 14-4 overall record.

RANKINGS: Both Concordia University, St. Paul and Minnesota State were in the receiving votes column of the latest USA Today Division II Coaches Top 25 Poll. Minot State was not ranked.

RECENT HISTORY: The Beavers split a pair of games at the Dome last weekend, falling to St .Cloud State 77-71 on Friday, before rebounding for a 52-51 win over Minnesota Duluth Saturday. CU had an impressive weekend at home with wins over then No. 8 Augustana College 59-47 and 57-38 over Wayne State, who was receiving votes. Minnesota State also finished off an impressive sweep of Wayne State and Augustana College, topping the Wildcats 61-58 before defeating the Vikings 78-73.

OVERALL SERIES: Minot State is facing both teams for the first time in school history.

NOTING THE GOLDEN BEARS: Concordia University, St. Paul is one of the hottest teams in the country, having won five straight games and 10 of its past 11. The Golden Bears have knocked then No. 5 and No. 8 Augustana College (two different wins, two different rankings), No. 19 Wayne State, No. 20 Minnesota State along the way... Despite a series of big wins, CU can't crack the top 25 as they were receiving votes this week (32 total)…. Junior guard Rachel Hansen notched NCAA Division II's fifth triple double with 13 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists in a 66-62 win over St. Cloud State…. The Golden Bears have 105 blocked shots on the season… Junior post Anika Whiting is close to averaging a double-double as she is one of the top scorers in the conference at 18.3 and averages 7.2 rebounds. Whiting also has 24 steals, 22 blocks and 20 assist on the season.

NOTING THE MAVERICKS: Minnesota State is undefeated (9-0) at home this season, but is just 3-4 on the road… MSU played a solid exhibition game against NCAA Division I University of Minnesota to start the season, falling just 66-56 in Minneapolis… Head coach Emilee Thiesse had a short time to prepare for the season as she was hired in August to replace former head coach Pam Gohl, who left the school to become the University of Sioux Fall's compliance coordinator/senior women administrator… The Mavericks have a robust plus-11.6 scoring margin, averaging 76.1 points per game… Ali Wilkinson leads the team in both scoring (18.8 per game) and rebounding (8.7).

DOUBE DIGIT DRIVE: Minot State is looking for its first 10-win season as a member of NCAA Division II in its first year as a full member. The Beavers have not failed to win at least 10 games in head coach Sheila Green Gerding's 17 seasons as head coach. The Beavers, who are at .500 at 9-9 overall, have only had two losing seasons in Green Gerding's time at the school.

THE SACARRA SAGA: Senior guard Sacarra Molina (Hinsdale, Mont.) has had one scoring swoon this season, combining to score just 13 points – not even a full point over her average – in losses against the University of Mary, Wayne State and Augustana College. Molina didn't hang her head, however, bouncing back with a pair of 20-point games last weekend. She hit 20 points against St. Cloud State Friday and had one of her best games in a 22-point, seven-rebound effort in a win over Minnesota Duluth. Molina is just 98 points shy of 1,000 in her career as she sits with 902 point in 104 games played. She scored her 900th career point with a layup with 4:07 to play in the second half against UMD.

TAKING ON THE TOP: This week marks the third week in a row where Minot State will face a team currently in first place in either the NSIC North or South Division. Two weeks ago, the Beavers battled Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D., when the Vikings led the NSIC South. Last week, MISU entertained NSIC North leading St. Cloud State and this week, Concordia University, St. Paul currently leads the NSIC South.

VALUABLE MINUTES: Both Minot State freshman Amanda Sansaver (G, Wolf Point, Mont.) and Savana Kingsbury (F, Omaha, Neb.) have logged important minutes for the Beavers in their first seasons. Sansaver has five starts this season and is averaging 2.3 points per game, while dishing out 24 assists compared to 25 turnovers at the point. Kingsbury is averaging 15.1 minutes per game and has two starts. She has 52 points on the season (5.4 average) and 59 rebounds (3.3).

SURGING DEANGELIS: Senior guard Francesca DeAngelis (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) has been on a steady rise over the past month, surging in minutes, points, rebounds and overall consistent play. After averaging just 5.1 points per game and 13.6 minutes in her first nine games of the season, DeAngelis has pushed her scoring average to 9.2, good for third on the team, and has played nearly as many minutes in her past four games (108) as she did in her first nine (123).

DOUBE VISION: Minot State junior Carly Boag (Jr., F, Tamworth, Australia) has a twin sister on the team, junior redshirt Christina Boag (F, Tamworth, Australia), so seeing “double” has come with the Boag sisters' territory. But this season, Carly Boag has had a habit of seeing double – double-doubles to be exact. Boag finished off her fifth straight double-double in Saturday's win over Minnesota Duluth, scoring 24 points and pulling down 18 rebounds. It was the ninth double-double of the year for Boag. It also marked the seventh straight double figure rebounding night and the fifth straight double-figure defensive rebounding night. Boag leads the conference and is currently 14th in the country in rebounding.
