COACHES CORNER: Minot State's is coached by
Sheila Green Gerding. In her 19th season at the helm of the Beaver women's basketball program, Green Gerding has amassed an impressive 318-213 overall record. She has qualified Minot State for six NAIA National Tournaments over her career while also coaching 12 All-Americans both at the NAIA and NCAA Division II levels. Dickinson State is coached by first year man Mark Graupe. Grapue is off to a solid start with the Blue Hawks, going 5-1 to start the season. Previous to DSU, Grapue spent time as an assistant at Colorado State University under Tim Miles and in 2012-13 he was the interim head men's basketball coach at Dartmouth College of the Ivy League.

RECENT HISTORY: Minot State has been dominant on both sides of the floor to start the 2013-14 season. In their three wins, has put up a minimum of 75 points and allowed a maximum of 67 points. The Beavers defeated nationally ranked NAIA University of Jamestown 85-67 on Nov. 13 and then defeated Presentation College 88-55 on Nov. 17 for two home wins. The Blue Hawks have won four straight games including a 73-58 win over Valley City State University on Nov. 19.
OVERALL SERIES: Minot State has dominated the overall series with Dickinson State since both programs began playing each other in 1975. The Beavers hold a 53-24 all-time advantage including a 71-54 win the last time the two teams played back on Feb. 9, 2011.
NOTING THE BLUE HAWKS: Dickinson State has dominated the glass and the scoreboard through six games of the 2013-14 season. The Blue Hawks average 48.8 rebounds per game and are outscoring their opponents by an average 12.3 points per game. DSU has four players that average double-digit points per game led by TaRicka Linzy with 17.7 ppg while three of their players average over 7.0 rebounds per game led by Jess Bygate with 8.8 rpg. However, the Blue Hawks have struggled shooting beyond the arc, hitting just 29.3 percent of their attempts while also only hitting 69% from the free throw line.
SISTER-SISTER: For the first time in nearly two years, sisters
Carly Boag (Sr., F, Tamworth, Austrailia) and
Christina Boag (Jr., F, Tamworth, Australia) are playing with each other in a Beaver uniform. Christina sat one the 2012-13 season due to injury and received a redshirt saving a year of eligibility. Carly played her true junior season and had a breakout year averaging 18.0 points per game and 11.8 rebounds per game on her way to earned First Team All-NSIC and Honorable Mention Daktronics All-American. In 2011-12, when both sisters played in 26 games for MISU, the Boag's combined for 25 points per game and 14.8 rebounds per game.
HARD(Y) TO GUARD: After sitting out last season,
Katie Hardy (Jr., F, Fairview, N.D.) has changed her body and changed her game. Hardy shed 90 pounds from her frame this offseason and is now one of Minot State's top transition runners. So far in 2013-14, Hardy is averaging 9.7 points per game and 6.3 rebounds per game; both improved from her season averages from the 2011-12 season.
LIMITING SECOND CHANCES: The Achilles heel for the Minot State women's basketball team this season has been allowing offensive rebounds. The Beavers have allowed an average of 15.3 offensive rebounds per game this season, a big reason Minot State is only out-rebounding their opponents by three rebounds per game.
FOUR TIMES AND COUNTING: On Monday Nov. 18,
Carly Boag (Sr., F, Tamworth, Australia) was named Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Player of the Week. It was the fourth time in the last two seasons Boag has earned the award. Boag finished two games last week with a combined 51 points, 21 rebounds, five assists, five steals and four blocked shots to lead the Beavers to a pair of nonconference wins.
SPEEDING AHEAD: Senior Alisha "Speedy" Jones (G, Killeen, Texas) has emerged as a leader for the Beavers this season. Not only leading by example off the court, but Jones has stepped up her game on the court. Jones is averaging 12.0 points per game and 3.7 assist per game, both averages up from a season ago where she averaged just 5.7 points per game and 1.6 assist per game.
DOME, SWEET DOME: When playing at home against a team that is currently not in the NSIC, the Minot State women's basketball team has won 27 straight games. The streak goes back all the way to Feb. 24, 2010 when the Beavers last in the Dakota Athletic Conference Tournament to South Dakota School of Mines. MISU will look to make the streak 28 games Sunday.

With her 22 points against Presentation College on Nov. 17, Boag passed Jamie Lamoureux for fourth on the all-time scoring list. Up next for Boag is MacKenzie Mack who sits with 1,372 career points.
24: The Beavers made a season-high 24 assists in their 88-55 win over Presentation College on Nov. 17. That marks the most assists a Minot State women's basketball team has had in a single game dating back to the 2009 season.
