RECORDS: Minot State is 7-2 overall and 3-2 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play this season. The University of Mary is off to a 5-3 overall start for the 2013-14 season and a 3-2 mark in NSIC play.
COACHES CORNER: Minot State is coached by
Sheila Green Gerding. In her 19th season at the helm of the Beaver women's basketball program, Green Gerding has amassed an impressive 322-215 overall record. She has qualified Minot State for six NAIA National Tournaments over her career while also coaching 12 All-Americans both at the NAIA and NCAA Division II levels. The Marauders are coached by second year man Rick Neumann. In his first season at the helm of the U-Mary program, he led his team to a 19-11 overall record and 13-9 NSIC record, placing them tied for fifth in the final NSIC standings before falling to Augustana College in the second round of the NSIC Tournament.

RANKINGS: Neither the Beavers nor Marauders received any votes in the Dec. 17 USA Today Division II Women's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll.
RECENT HISTORY: Minot State lost their first two games of the 2013-14 season during their first two road games of the season. Friday Dec. 13 MISU fell in a highly contested shootout to St. Cloud State, losing by the score of 92-85. It was the three-point shooting ability of the Huskies that sunk the Beavers, as SCSU hit 16-of-28 shots from behind the arc. Saturday night it was a last second shot the downed MISU as University of Minnesota Duluth's Jessica Newman hit a shot with 0.7 seconds left to give the Bulldogs a 70-68 win over Minot State. The Beavers led by five points with two minutes, 33 seconds in the game but couldn't close out Newman and UMD. The University of Mary split with Minnesota Duluth and St. Cloud State, beating the Bulldogs 76-68 on Friday night before falling to SCSU 100-80 on Saturday night. U-Mary's Linda Murray scored 38 points and grabbed 20 rebounds on the weekend, leading the team in each category.
OVERALL SERIES: Minot State and University of Mary have faced each other 73 times in school history with the Marauders holding a 45-28 advantage over the Beavers. From the years 2002-2006, U-Mary took down Minot State nine straight games. However, MISU has taken two of the last three matchups including a 79-72 win on Nov. 30 in the Minot State Dome.
NOTING THE MARAUDERS: After back-to-back 19 win seasons, the University of Mary women's basketball team will look to get over the hump and record their first 20-plus win season since the 2005-2006 campaign. U-Mary has faced several NCAA Division I teams this pre-season as well as some highly ranked NAIA teams. The Marauders fell to University of Utah and Idaho Sate both in preseason exhibition games while also falling to Westminster College and Vanguard University. Both Westminster and Vanguard were ranked in the top five at the NAIA level. Linda Murray has emerged as the leader of the team that has three players averaging double-digit points per game. Through eight games Murray averages 19.0points per game while also bringing down 10.3 rebounds per game. Brittany Dietz has also played well putting up 16.0 points per game, 3.8 rebounds per game and 2.9 assists per game.
BOAG CLIMBING THE RANKS:
Carly Boag (Sr., F, Tamworth, Australia) leads the Northern Sun in scoring so far this season, averaging 21.1 points per game. Boag has scored 190 points total nine games into her senior year and current ranks third on the Minot State women's basketball all-time scoring list with 1,381 career points. Over the two road games on Dec. 13 & 14 Boag passed MacKenzie Mack who now sits fourth on the all-time scoring list. Next up on Boag's quest is NAIA All-American Kayla Blom with 1,620 points.

GETTING TO THE LINE: Getting fouled and attempting free throws has been a calling card for the Minot State women's basketball team in 2013-14. So far this season, MISU is averaging 17.6 free throws per game but in back-to-back losses the Beavers could attempt just 17 free throws total between the two games. The Beavers currently rank No. 6 in the Northern Sun with a .761 free throw percentage of the season.
DISHING OUT DIMES: The Beavers continue to do a great job moving the ball to the open player for basketballs as they lead the Northern Sun with 20.3 assists per game. In the two losses, MISU made 20 and 23 assists to push their season average higher.
Alisha Jones (Sr., G, Killeen, Texas) leads the team with 4.0 assists per game.
KLOSE CALL: After setting a career-high in assists on Dec. 7 against MSU Moorhead, junior
Morgan Klose (G, Fairview, N.D.) stepped up her game from behind the arc and hit a career-high five three point shots in the 70-68 loss to Minnesota Duluth. Klose led the Beavers with 19 points and shot 7-of-11 for the game.
20-PLUS POINT TRIO: For the first time in nearly five seasons, MISU had three players score 20 or more points in a single game. In the 92-85 loss against SCSU,
Christina Boag (Jr., F, Tamworth, Australia) scored 27 points while
Carly Boag (Sr., F, Tamworth, Australia) and
Alisha Jones (Sr., G, Killeen, Texas) each score 21 point apiece. It was the first time this had been done in school history since Oct. 30, 2009 when current coach Arie Hendrix-Roach scored 23 points, Caroline Folven scored 21 and MacKenzie Mack scored 20 points in a 103-94 overtime win over then No. 1 ranked Morningside College.
CHRISTINA'S DOUBLE-DOUBLE: For the first time in just over two years,
Christina Boag (Jr., F, Tamworth, Australia) recorded a double-double. Boag scored 27 points and snagged a season-high 11 rebounds in the loss to St. Cloud State. Her last double-double came on Dec. 11, 2011 when she scored 21 points and had 13 rebounds in a win over Valley City State.
TELEVISED GAMES: Minot State women's basketball will make their first televised appearance of the season when University of Mary hosts the Beavers Friday night. All four stations of the NBC North Dakota Sports Network, including Minot's KMOT, will air the Marauders-Beavers game starting at 4 p.m.
BY THE NUMBERS
15: When University of Mary visited the Minot State Dome on Nov. 30 the Beavers started the game with 15 unanswered points. MISU shot 6-of-7 including three 3-point shots in the first five minutes of the game.
61.5: Last time these two teams played, University of Mary shot just 16-of-26 from the line for a 61.5 percentage compared to Minot State's 88.0 percent. On the season, U-Mary is making just 69.8 percent of their free throws.
39.0: The Beavers have struggled defending the three-point shot so far this season as they rank last in the Northern Sun by giving up 39.0 percent on shots behind the arc. University of Mary is the third best three-point shooting team in the league with a 40.8 percentage from long range.
