THIS WEEK: Minot State returns to the road for a final weekend of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play Friday and Saturday, playing at Northern State Friday (6 p.m.) and Minnesota State-Moorhead Saturday (4 p.m.).

RECORDS: MISU is 12-12 overall, 8-12 in the NSIC. Northern State is 17-10 overall and 12-8 in the NSIC. MSU-M enters the weekend a 16-10 overall record, 10-10 NSIC.

COACHES CORNER: Sheila Green Gerding begins her 18th season as the Minot State head coach and sports a lofty 314-210 record. Curt Fredrickson has been at the helm of the NSU program for 34 seasons, racking up an impressive 723-268 record. Karla Nelson is in her 13th season at Moorhead and has a solid 223-147 overall record.

RANKINGS: Minot State, Northern State and Minnesota State-Moorhead were not ranked in the latest USA Today Division II Coaches Top 25 Poll.

RECENT HISTORY: The Beavers split a pair of home games last week, falling 81-70 to Bemidji State and rallying late for a 67-65 win over Minnesota Crookston on Saturday. Northern State split two road games last week, topping Minnesota Duluth Friday 61-57 and losing to St. Cloud State Saturday 59-48.

OVERALL SERIES: Minot State trails Northern State 2-0 in the series while members of DII. The Beavers are 3-13 overall against the Dragons and 1-1 as a member the NCAA Division II. MSU-M fell twice on the road, losing 69-57 at SCSU and 54-50 at UMD.

NOTING THE WOLVES: Northern State University will play its home games at the Civic Arena in town this weekend as the Barnett Center is being utilized for a state tournament… The Wolves have lost five of its past seven games, including two straight at home… NSU has two players averaging 30-plus minutes as Alison Kusler is playing 32.6 minutes per game and Rachel Krogman logs 30.3 a night… Kusler and Krogman are both averaging double figure scoring as well with Kusler leading the team with a 13.7 ppg. Average… Krogman pulls down 9.2 rebounds per game… NSU averages just 2.9 3-pointers per game and 60.5 points per game, but is a plus-3.7 in scoring as they are holding opponents to 56.9 points per contest… The Wolves are outscoring opponents by 68 points in the second half compared to just 20 points in the first.

NOTING THE DRAGONS: Minnesota State-Moorhead has won four straight games at home and six of its last seven in Moorhead, Minn…, including a pair of wins over ranked Augustana College and receiving votes Wayne State two weeks ago… Megan Strese is nearly averaging a double-double as she leads the team with a 14.3 points per game and a 9.5 rebounds per game average… MSU-M has turned the ball over 422 times this season, averaging 17.6 per game. In a pair of losses at St. Cloud State and Minnesota Duluth, the Dragons finished with 38 combined turnovers…. Morgan Zabel is the top 3-point shooting threat for MSU-M by average, knocking down 42.6 percent. Marissa Yernatich is the leader in makes, however, with 55 on the season.

THRICE IS NICE: Minot State junior Carly Boag (F, Tamworth, Australia) earned the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference women's basketball Player of the Week award for the third time this season, following gaudy numbers over the weekend. Boag averaged 32 points and 18 rebounds per game in the Beavers split of two home NSIC contests. She finished with 33 points and 20 rebounds to lead MISU to a 67-65 win over Minnesota Crookston. Boag is the only player in the NSIC to win the award three times this season.

CHART TOPPER:  Carly Boag has also moved up the national ladder and is on the NCAA.com front page for rebounds per game, averaging 11.9 per game. She is seventh in the nation in that category. Boag is 19th overall in scoring in NCAA Division II with an 18.6 ppg., average and second overall in the NSIC. She is also ranked sixth overall in double doubles with 13 and 11th in field goal percentage at 55.4 percent.

WRECKING THE RECORD BOOKS: OK, one more note on Carly Boag! After another huge weekend, Boag moved up to set the school's all-time single season rebound record with 285, breaking Nicky Burleson's old mark of 262 set in 1992-93. She is now fourth all-time in both in career rebounding (688) and scoring (1,151) and is 125 rebounds and 560 points away from breaking both overall records.

MOLINA WATCH: Senior guard Sacarra Molina (Hinsdale, Mont.) continued to push toward 1,000 career points as she finished with 22 total points in two wins this past weekend. She now sits at 979 career points with two regular season games and at least one Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference postseason tournament game. Molina is looking to become the 12th Beaver in school history to reach 1,000 points.

ROAD IMPROVEMENTS: Minot State is only 3-6 on the road this season, but is coming off its first sweep on the road this year, topping the University of Sioux Falls and Southwest Minnesota State two weeks ago. The Beavers broke a six-game road losing streak with the pair of wins two weeks ago.

KEY THREE HIT, KEY THREES: In Minot State's win over Minnesota Crookston Saturday, only 25 points were scored by players other than Carly Boag and Sacarra Molina. But of those 25, nine were netted on late 3-pointers to help secure the comeback win. Morgan Klose (So., G, Fairview, Mont.), Sarah Lester (Fr., G, Frenchtown, Mont.) and Bridger Rice (Fr., F, Savage, Mont.) knocked down huge shots late in the second half. The trip finished hitting 3 of 7 shots from beyond the arc in the game. It was freshman Rice's first 3-pointer of her career and Klose's team-leading 29th of the season.
