JAMIN WITH GILLY: Minot State University baseball will again feature a blog from student-athletes during the 2013 season. Following in the wildly popular footsteps of Around the Horns with Ryne Hornecker, the Beavers are proud to announce this year's blog, Jamin with Gilly, featuring Jamin Heller (Jr., P, Lethbridge, Alberta) and Jordan Gilmour (Sr., OF, Gatineau, Quebec). The dynamic duo will blog about life on the road, 6 a.m. practices and hopefully a bunch of wins during the Beavers 2013 season - the school's first in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. To access the blog, click on the link provided below or on the main Minot State Baseball homepage.

NORTHERN SUN PRESEASON POLL: The Beavers are entering their first season as full members of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. The Beavers were ranked No. 14 in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll from Jan. 10. MISU received 29 points in the poll, nine behind University of Mary (38). Minnesota State was the top pick of NSIC coaches, receiving 195 points, including 13 first place votes.

MAPLE LEAF MAGIC: The 2013 Minot State baseball roster has 15 Canadian players, making up nearly half of the team. Provinces Alberta (5), Manitoba (4), Saskatchewan (3), British Columbia (2), and Quebec (1) are all represented on the MISU baseball team the will look to make some noise in their first year in the NSIC.

GOLD GLOVES: Through the first four games of the 2013 season, Minot State has committed just one error in the field, good enough for a .991 fielding percentage. The Beavers are ranked first in the NSIC in fielding percentage, led by Mitch Olson (Sr., 1B/3B, Deloraine, Manitoba) with 31 putouts and no errors.

PITCHING LEADS THE WAY: Along with some stellar defense, the Minot State pitching staff has been on point to start the season. The Beavers lead the NSIC in Earned Run Average (ERA), allowing an average of 2.00 runs per game. MISU pitchers are also ranked first in the conference in walks allowed per game, walking just 1.67 batters per game.

ROOTIN' FOR MOUGHTIN: Connor Moughtin (Jr., C, Victoria, British Columbia) is leading the Beavers offensive attack out of the gates. Moughtin has collected five hits in ten at-bats. He is also tied for first on the team with three runs scored.

ROACH HEADING HOME: Andrew Roach (So., P/OF, Gilbert, Ariz.) will have somewhat of a homecoming, as he returns to his home state of Arizona. Roach is the only Beaver from Arizona and he will look to continue hitting the ball with power in the Grand Canyon State. He is hitting for an average of .444 with a team-high slugging percentage of .778.

SHUTOUT PERFORMANCES: Jesse Goertzen (Fr., P, Steinbach, Manitoba) and Cole Stober (Sr., P, Hays, Alberta) did not allow an earned run in their first starts of the 2013 campaign. Goertzen, in his first collegiate start, struck out seven UMD batters in 5 2/3 innings on the bump. Stober tossed four solid innings, striking out one on his way to victory.

GOING YARD: Minot State did not hit a home run in the first four games of the 2013 season. In 2012, the Beavers hit 11 all season while giving up 20 home runs to their opponents. Mitch Olson led MISU in 2012 belting out three round tripper's during his junior campaign.
