JONES GOES FOR CAREER-HIGH: In the 79-56 win over Minnesota State University Moorhead,
Alisha Jones (Sr., G, Killeen, Texas) had arguably her best game in a Minot State uniform. Jones scored a career-high 22 points on 10-of-14 shooting. She also dished out five assists, grabbed three rebounds and hit two 3-point shots in the win. Jones has scored 286 points during her senior year, nearly twice as many as she scored during his junior season (149).
DOUBLE-DOUBLE…NO TROUBLE: Both
Carly Boag (Sr., F, Tamworth, Australia) and
Christina Boag (Jr., F, Tamworth, Australia) recorded double-doubles over the weekend. Friday against MSUM, Carly scored 14 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the win. It was Carly's fourteenth double-double on the season. Christina recorded hers on Saturday against NSU as she had 11 points and 12 rebounds, including season-high six offensive rebounds. It was her fourth double-double of the season.
KLOSE CALLS IT:
Morgan Klose (Jr., G, Fairview, N.D.) has made a 3-point field goal in 21-of-26 games during the 2013-14 season. In the five games she has failed to hit a 3-pointer, the Beavers have a record of just 1-4. Klose's ability to stretch the floor and the defense will be a key factor for MISU making a post-season run. So far this year, Klose has hit 43 3-point shots including a season-high five 3-points against Minnesota Duluth on Dec. 15.
REGIONAL IMPLICATIONS: Sunday's matchup against the Golden Bears not only effects each teams future for the weekend, but the winner takes the fast track to making it to the NCAA Division II Central Region Tournament. In the region's second released standings, Minot State was ranked No. 9 while Concordia, St. Paul was ranked No. 8. The top eight teams will make it to the NCAA Division II Tournament and will be announced on March 9 at 9 p.m.
