BOX SCOREMINOT, N.D. – The Minot State wrestling team had their hands full Saturday afternoon when they took on the No. 2 ranked State Cloud State Huskies. The Huskies came away with a 44-2 win over the Beavers.
"There's a reason they're ranked number two in the country and we're not," Minot State head coach
Robin Ersland said. "They make a mistake and they keep wrestling, we make a mistake and we get pinned. Right now they've got a deep team with a lot of pretty good wrestlers."
Early on, the Beavers got themselves into a hole as they were pinned in the first two matches of the dual.
Tanner Crissler (Fr., 141, Belcourt, N.D.) did his best to get Minot State going in the 141 weight class as he defeated Tyler Pasvogel, 4-1. It was Crissler's 13th win of the season moving him to 13-12 overall, the third-most wins on the team.
As the dual progressed, the Huskies proved to be too much for the Beavers though, as they went on to win the rest of the matches.
Jon Wilson (Sr., 174, Colorado Springs, Colo.) put up a strong fight in the 174 weight class but fell 6-2.
Minot State will be tested once again tomorrow afternoon as they're slotted to take on Upper Iowa in Fayette, Iowa. Dual time is set for 2 p.m.
